This beach has been rated no 25 in the world, a really nice beach and when we were there they were holding a surf competition for school kids there. We had nothing but great weather and the surf was warm, just remember to swim in the patroled areas, plenty of sun screen and have a great time.

Have just spent 10 days in Mount Maunganui... 4 at the campsite at the bottom of the Mount. What's not to love... the water was warm, awesome surf, yet still a fabulous spot by leisure island which is safe for kids. On a really choppy day, pop over to Pilot Bay (walking distance) and the kids can play safely all... More

Took a road trip here with the family in the off season. Great beach, the Mount walk to the top is a must do with stunning views. Lots of food options with great Kiwi hospitality. A must see on the North Island.

This beach has been recently voted as one of the best in the world and that is for a reason. It is really beautifully situated at the bottom of the Mount. The waves are great and there are restaurants closeby. What more do you want. I love to sit close to the rock of leisure Island as the kids love... More

This beach is magnificent. Soft white sand. Huge waves for surfers, softer parts for swimmers. Loads of pretty shells, still couldn't find a Paua though! Fabulous setting, very scenic. Can see pods of dolphin from the mount walk. Nice little inconspicuous eateries. Best walk in the world on Mount M. Base track. Plenty of free parking. Gets my vote!

Very safe, children were surfing, I waded, but lots going on, lovely soft sand, very clean. Lifeguards on the beach. A walk up a hill opposite gives you views over. Nice park opposite and of course the Mount. Shopping street very pretty.

Proximity to the beach yet far enough away from the busyiness and noise nearer the Mount itself. Superb views of the ocean providing you have an apartment with a view.

This is one of our favourite places and have returned several times over recent years. The sandy beach is brilliant and easily accessible and in reach of the nearby cafes, bars and shops. There are a number that cater for all tastes without being overbearing or intruding onto the natural beauty of the area. You can walk around Mount Mounganui... More

I lived, worked and played at the Mount for 5 years and lived every minute. It's a beautiful place for surfers, hikers, triathletes, sun worshippers, brunchers, open-air-cinema goers, skateboarders, kite surfers... You name it, the Mount has it all!
