Beautiful, at the time a little windy but enjoyable, love the beach and the area, what more can you say about one of the best beaches in NZ

Nice beach in NZ. very long. Very, very long and there are multiple places to get onto the beach with parking alongside. We went into town and parked just as someone was backing out so we were right in the town, near Mount Maunganui. There were bathrooms (concrete type), stores for shopping and/or food, water stations to fill up your... More

Mount beach is gorgeous and good for surfing! Main beach can be a little bit packed in the summer but Tay street and some of the other beaches are just as great for during the busier months.

Heavy traffic through a very ugly coomercisl port and smelly oil refinery to a typical overcrowded tourist laden beach. New Zealand is full of spectacular deserted beaches; this is not one of them.

Lots of people but we still found a quiet and peacful spot. It is a perfect beach. There are no showers and we missed that.

Boy was it hot in the Bay of Plenty. What better way to cool off (and keep the children happy) than with a refreshing swim at this idyllic summer attraction. Just enough wave action to keep us on our toes (though it can be wilder sometimes). Don't miss it!

Near the mount it's pretty busy, but a little further down it's a bit quieter. The are a couple of bays to enjoy which are more sheltered. Enjoyed a very quick dip but in early January it was a bit icy so didn't stay in long.

We very much enjoyed the main public beach area next to Mt. Maunganui. However, what we enjoyed just as much, if not more, was the long stretch of more rustic beachfront that went on for several miles past the main Maunganui Beach area. We found found regular car park spots in many locations, lots of surf, sand dunes with flora,... More
