We paid the $20 entry fee (the owner checks closely on who has paid).  The walk was great through rocks, waterfalls, caves and bridges.  Then onto the platform walk which was spectactular.  The journey was approx 2.5 hours and good value however was simply a guided bush wak, that can be had in many places.  The interesting part was the... I did this walk with my husband last December when we were staying in Omapere. There wasn't a car in the car park when we arrived in the afternoon and no one at the little reception hut either. We were trusted to put our $10 in the box. The walks are unguided and there are two separate tracks. We did both. The... More

We were truly amazed by the rock structures & more by the amount of work that Felix & Rita put into the trail system. It is well worth the trip. More

Felix and Rita have created a world-class window into some geology that others overlooked. Experts have casually called the boulders 'limestone' and dismissed them. Felix and Rita learned that they are Basalt, and should never have been sculpted by water the way they are. Their labour of love in creating the walkways, bridges and hidden caves can be appreciated by... More

My husband and I have visited the Wairere Boulders several times, also with friends from our area in the Doubtless Bay. We found, it was really amazing, the path's are all in good condition, so everyone can do it. In the reception area, you get a good overview how it has been done and what the history behind was all... More

We thought this was free but when we got there we discovered there was a charge. We didn't really appreciate the harassment from the rather eccentric owners. Its basically just a track through the forest where you can see big rocks. Definitely over hyped by all of these reviews. More

Amazing geology with a sense of fun with the paths, info provision and engineering. Really recommended, especially with a follow-up drink at Horeke Pub. More

Off the beaten track and well worth making the effort. Felix and Rita have done an amazing job highlighting pre-historic rock formations and retaining the natural beauty of this hidden valley. I have returned with friends and will continue to do so. A must do if you are interested in nature and natural landscapes. More
