before visiting, i found inhotim to be indescribable. is it an open air museum? modern art gallery? beautiful gardens? swim park? birdwatchers paradise? after visiting, inhotim is still indescrible but has a little bit of everything to fit the bill for nearly everyone. some of the exhibits will defy explanation and others leave you perplexed, but that is a good... I would recommend this place for families if you like to walk, and you are open to different kinds of experiences. The place is beautiful to walk around, and there are some very kid-friendly exhibits. It's modern art, so some of it is not to all tastes (including mine), but the architecture is interesting, the exhibits are very different, and... More

I love plants and the gardens here are spectacular which makes the art installations even more exciting. Be sure to allow a full day and eat lunch in the restaurant. It's expensive but worth it.

I have to say that i was really impressed by my trip. We stayed in Rio and i had just one day to go to Inhotim and this decision was taken agh the very last moment, and you have to understand that it took me 1 hr by plane and 2.5 hrs by car to reach the destination, so it... More

Why you should go: The art here stimulates more than just the eyes. Many pieces are interactive which can be fun for the kids. The english descriptions are well done and worth reading because they can actually explain the intention of the art in a not so high brow way. If you don't get it or like it, move on,... More

Absolutely wonderful, for the plants and the gardens, but also for the Janet Cardiff sound installation, The Murder of Crows. It's 30 minutes long. I would recommend listening to the whole thing at least three times.

This is just a wonderful place to spend a whole day with your family, friends or partner! Spectacular gardens set amongst contemporary Art. We also enjoyed the great lunch in the Restaurant Tamboril. It was like a wedding feast! Such an array of delicious food. I enjoyed the cheeses and vast array of salads. The sculptures are challenging and some... More

As a brazilian, I didn't have high expectations for Inhotim since my previous experience with local botanical gardens and musems weren't that pleasing. But then I was surprised by the awesomeness of that place. Contemporary art meets spectacular architecture meets spectacular trees, lakes, gardens and public spaces. It's not that easy to get there, though - from Belo Horizonte it... More

Inhotim is much more than a huge private art gallery. Walking through its paths provides a unique experience of harmony between the gardens and artwork. Some works are interactive, which arouses interest in children and people unfamiliar with art. There are restaurants and snack options. Clean toilets and trash cans in a proper quantity. Be prepared to walk a lot,... More
