Again, all the pictures are not enough to really describe this place! We took our own car from Comitan; it was faster, cheaper, we could stay as long as we wanted in each lagoon and best of all, all the vendors ignored us to go sell their stuff to the big tour busses ja ja ja! The drive was pretty... More

It took an hr bus ride to get to Comitan from San Cristobal to get to this place and once you get off the bus you can find a little van that takes you to the place for 50pesos which was great considering I had my bike and all they did was just put it on the roof, the place... More

Lots of lakes to visit, well taken care of. If offered the canoe ride, take it, by all means! Fresh air, clean water, if able to swim, do it, very fresh water! Great to know how clean it is! Relaxing, enchanting, comforting, great relation nature-happiness!

Make sure you go on a sunny day to take a dip into turquoise waters, it is awesome how you can cross over to Guatemala with just a few steps. It is absolutely stunning

There are more than 50 lakes in this area and only one is really the Montebello lake but all are usually named as Montebello lakes. If you arrive by yourself to the entrance, is a good idea to hire a guide and arrange his rate in advance. For around US 25 he will guide you for about 4 - 5... More

After 20 years I came back and still consider the site wonderful. Even if it was cloudy and raining we had a great time, and great pictures. Taking a row boat to cross one of the lakes was absolutely pleasant. Locals are proud of their place ant take care of it. Lakes are clean and no motor-boats allowed , at... More

The lagunas were wonderful - beautiful color with deep water and an opportunity to take a special wooden raft on one of the lakes - worth the visit and boat ride!

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been not just in Mexico but anywhere. You gain entry to all of the major lakes for under 5 USD. The Cinco Lagos is amazing. Definetely worth the drive from San Cristóbal de las Casas.
