Well laid out site of what was once Troy. It takes 30-45 minutes to walk through the site. The gift shop is quite nice, clean bathrooms, friendly staff. The views are beautiful of the countryside and we were lucky enough to chance upon a herder and his goats and sheep. It may be a bit run down in areas, but... More

The site is nothing compard to othe famous ruins but for all those that remember the historic story then you just must go. I went not expecting too much, but was impressed as they have done a good job of making it interesting (including a disney like horse) my mind went back through the levels of civilisation it laid out.... The site is wonderful and the route is well laid out and signposted. The only blemish was the poor maintenance. Wooden stair treads were missing, some floor boards were rotten leaving gaps and many of the handrails were either poor or missing. More

We toured this site while on a group tour. First it was a bus ride from Istanbul, then a ferry ride across the Dardanelles, and another bus ride to get to Troy. There is a replica of the Trojan horse and one can climb inside. The ruins are extensive and quite impressive. It's better to read about the place before one... More

Troy is a surprisingly small place, given its reputation. It is a large mound that a German archeologist decimated leaving confusion as to whether it is really Troy or not. It is more of a theme park than an interesting site. Troy's history goes back thousands of years and it is worthwhile visitng on the way to/ from Pergammon or... More

During a recent stay in Istanbul, we booked a day trip to the site of ancient Troy through Walkabout Travel Agency in Istanbul. Although there is a good deal of time on a bus coming and going, there is a short ferry trip across the Dardanelles coming and going plus a good lunch included in the price. The star, of... More

It is not to often you get to see one of histories greatest cities, but when at Troy, you see a historical masterpiece. There is not much left at Troy, but what is left tells the story of its past in a picturesque manor. Previous knowledge on Troy would be good to have, or else you may not appreciate all... More

As a lover of anything historical, I really enjoyed the trip to Troy. First of all we climbed inside the replica horse near the entrance. Our guide then gave us a long talk all about Troy and what had happened there. Wandering around the ruins was fabulous, and the views from the top were breathtaking. You could just see the... More

If you visit Troy as part of an itinerary touring Turkey you will doubtless have a different experience than mine. I visited as a long day trip, leaving Istanbul at about 6:30AM, and returning close to 10PM. There was a stop at a roadside rest area for Breakfast, which was not included, about an hour outside Istanbul, an included lunch... More

Troia (Troy) starting with the reconstruction of the famous horse (you can actually climb inside) is exactly the way you imagine this town during the conflict described by Homerus. The tall walls remind one of the siege. Especially interesting is the spot where 7 different layers, corresponding to the different epochs, can be seen. Not to be missed by anyone... More
