Our family of four went ice climbing for the first time at the beautiful Matanuska glacier. We had a fantastic day with our knowledgeable, experienced guide, Sam. We even got to taste pure glacier water! Sam perfectly matched our climbs to our physical abilities and even challenged us. It is definitely worth the 100 mile trip from Anchorage!

Our amazing guide Brett, made sure to give us a great experience. Brett is from Mica guides, they provide all the gears at no additional cost. On our tour day we had another adventurous activity planned before this, and because of that we were running late. Our guide not only waited for us but also made sure not to cut... More

We went on 6h trip with excellent guide Chris. We did ICE climbing twice (3 of us) and hiked around The Matanuska glacier. Many people struggle which glacier to choose Matanuska or Mendehal. Definetely Matanuska for reasons as below: - you spend 4h it total on ice as The glacier IS half a mile walk from parking (on Mendehal You... More

My husband and I did the advanced glacier trek....Both in our mid 50's. I was a bit apprehensive, as I had never done anything like this before. In the end, I loved it as much as my husband, despite the blisters on my toes!!! We lucked out with the weather, it was a warm, sunny, glorious day! Our guide Ben... More

We are a family of 4 - mom, dad, son 15 and daughter 13, and we had just finished a 7 day cruise that had ended in Seward and were doing our own tour up to Denali along the Alaska Railroad, so we were able to pick and choose our stops and how long at each place. On the way... More

My 9 year old and I spent 2 weeks in Alaska. We saw bears in Katmai, camped in Denali, explored Kenai Fjords, and hiked and panned for gold in Girdwood. This glacier hike was one of our most favorite activities (second only to those famous bears!). Katie and Hira were our guides and did an awesome job. I knew the... More

This was to be one of the highlights of our trip, and it didn't disappoint. Our guide, Sarah, was interesting and informative, and offered to take lots of pictures of us as a whole family. The equipment was good, (they even had sunglasses to lend us, as we'd forgotten ours), and we saw some of the most interesting and spectacular... More

We had a wonderful afternoon with Mica guides. We had been caught in roadworks from Palmer but a quick phone call advising them we may be late was taken with good grace. We ( 2 other couples and the three of us with 2 guides) were fitted with helmets and crampons at their office before being taken by bus to... More

A bit of glacier ice climbing and a bit of zip lining makes MICA Guides a win! Here is the thing, when you are doing some of these things you want to have fun but be safe. MICA guides were more than capable to handle our group and had us using good and correct safety gear. I saw other groups... More

Below is a review I wrote for the Exposure Alaska Xxtreme Week I went on through Mica Guides Website. I wanted to elaborate a bit specifically on the zip lining and ice climbing that I participated during the trip. We had Noah and Sandra as co leads for the glacier hike and both had great energy and a lot of... More
