I recently went on the tour of the Manzanillo Gondoca National Wildlife Refuge with Omar of Bucus Tours. It was an incredibly experience. Omar was an amazing guide. He taught us the history of the town, the refuge and the area as a whole. He made the entire trip very personable as he told jokes and was very down to... More

We recently went on a tour wth Omar and we loved him. He took us through the jungle in Gandoca Manzanillo, and because he is a native of Manzanillo he knew all the secret spots. During our hike we saw so much. I have to say, when Omar started talking to the howler monkeys, thats when we knew he was... More

We stayed in Cahuita, and one of the mornings we hopped on the Mepe bus and took a half hour ride down to Manzanillo to hike with Omar. We had zero expectations and were open-minded of our day with Omar. And WOW were we blown away!! Omar is so knowledgeable and truly knows and has lived through the history of... More

If you're going hiking in the Manzanillo refuge, seek out Omar as your guide. He grew up in Manzanillo and loves the place and the jungle around it. He makes a hike in the forest fun and informative and is charming. His insights and knowledge made our excursion a real treat. Highly recommended.

Omar showed up at the crack of dawn to guide us through the Manzanillo refuge. We were all amazed by his vast knowledge of all the wildlife, plants and lore of the area. Great animal spotting - no way we would have seen much on our own. Really nice guy too, funny and personable. Highly recommend.

Omar is simply one of the best guides I have ever used. He has a great combination of attributes: Knowledge - he trained to be a professional guide; Keen Eyesight - his ability to find animals is unbelievable; Local connections- he grew up in Manzanillo and taught us about the area and community; Personality- laid back "no worries" attitude, loves... My family and I (13, 19, 21 yrs old) spent Christmas morning hiking the jungle with Omar. He is a native of Manzanillo and knows the area inside and out. He has a heightened sense of the wildlife from growing up there, and pointed out tiny snakes, spiders and ants that we never would have seen. He could identify all... More

My family and I were staying in Manzanillo for a weeks time and hired both Omar and his brother Andy for kayaking tours, jungle hikes, and Indigenous village/chocolate and medicinal plant tours. Our experiences could not have been planned or gone any better! Both Omar and Andy are extremely knowledgable of the area, flora, and fauna of the region. The... More
