This castle is great if you are 5 years old. It is overpriced , little to see on the inside. The people at the entrance booth are rude and not helpful. They could not care if you come in or not. Stay away :(

For a history afficionado like myself this castle is a marvel. It was built in the 13th century, rebuilt in the 14th century and renovated countless times by subsequent owners. Each era left a lasting impression on the complex. The walls show merlons and arrow slits in abundance, just like it looked in Medieval times. The catwalks sometimes run into... More

Visiting this castle is a genuine trip to history! Thick walls, medieval interiors, good guidance with clarification some old Dutch habits, Muiderslot shows it all! Don't miss the beautiful views around and the nice garden.

We had a great afternoon at the castle. It was well preserved and renovated, interesting and educative. Also very interactive.

We went here on a winterday and the kids were not to excited to join. They were in for a nice surprise not only with good sunny weather but more with the enjoyable tours they have set out for children. Good fun for kids and parents.

It is located at the mouth of the river Vecht. It is most beautiful and best kept medieval castle of Holland is only 15 minutes away from Amsterdam. Built by Floris V in 1285 and in the Golden Age the official residence of P.C. Hooft, the Dutch Shakespeare. The count was eventually imprisoned & killed in the Muiderslot. In 1297... More

Muiderslot is a beautiful medieval castle located just outside Amsterdam. Going there is easy - bus 320 takes you directly to Muiden bus stop and from there it's a 10 minute walk. The ferry is the other option to go there but it was closed when I went. The castle is beautiful, well maintained and has amazing grounds. A part... More

We drove there from Amsterdam and it took about 20 minutes. The entrance fee is Euro13.50. It includes a guided tour whether in Dutch or English. After the short tour, you can then walk on your own.

Spent the day exploring the castle. Large parts of the castle you are free to roam at your leisure. The tour of some of the rooms is structured with a tour guide giving an overview of life during the period that all furniture is from ie four hundred years ago. Wonderful rooms the the guide was very informative and answered... More

Close to Amsterdam is Muiderslot a castle built in late 1200. You can get a very nice tour in the castle. The entree fee is now (october 2014 € 13,50). But the money worth. You can explore a part of the castle by yourself and the rest by tour with a guide. Ask for this when you purchase the tickets.... More
