We just had a dolphin and sunrise trip on 11 April, 2014. It was a sunny day, the sunrise there was so-so... but we saw a lot of dolphins swimming there, but not a huge one. However, a tons of boats were tracing the dolphins together might scared the dolphins too. Spending almost 2 hours on the ocean to trace... More

Awesome sunsets from Lovina Beach. Lots of warungs serving good food at reasonable prices. Loads of inexpensive accommodation. The water is very shallow off the main bay so not great for swimming and the sand is black volcanic but it is a very picturesque bay and very laid back so can watch the fishermen taking their spiderboats out to sea... We came to Lovina to see the dolphins, we were guaranteed by the driver we would see them and were very excited about it. The beach itself is awful, covered in litter. The rubbish could be found in the sea as well, it got stuck on our boat propeller, we saw other boats having the same problem. Regarding the dolphins...... More

Driver picked us up at Ubud at 3.30am to head north to Lovina Beach for the dolphin watching. We managed to reach around 5.30am, sun is rising. Lots of boat started to head out to the sea by then. Therefore we must hurry up. According to the boatman, the dolphins only come in the morning to feed on small fishes.... More

You go out with at least 20 other boats (it's still low season) and wait for the dolphins to come up for air, then the chase begins. All the engines come on and every boat races to them so close that the dolphins disappear, obviously! This was repeated over and over. We told our fisherman to stop and turn our... More

I think Lovina Beach was once very beautiful, but unfortunately it's no longer that way. We visited from Ubud and were very disappointed. We could see pipes pumping waste into the ocean and the dolphin tours were incredibly over-priced. I walked to the city center to see if it was at all nice, but it was extremely touristy and not...
