It's a beautiful building inside and out! The garden and grounds are stunning and the little train is really sweet. It's not much to look around and there are some beautiful rooms in the castle. It would of been nice to know more about the history of the castle or maybe a time line. Had a great time and the... More

The castle is lovely to look at and so are the grounds. The little train is a horrible rip off as it is faster if you walk it then go around the borders with the slow moving tractor. The inside of the castle is just a handful of rooms so the all in price for euro 11 left a very... More

This château is lovely, and so are its gardens. Nor the building neither the parc are super-kept, but they are neat and clean... just not at their original glory or at the peak of potential. Likely noone would be so concerned about this lack of perfection if the place wasn't sold as "the Belgian Versailles", a name that raises high... More

I visited the Chateau using public transportation. I followed the advice that I found in TA forum. (You take the train to Ath, then a Bus). Keep in mind that there are only very few buses on Saturday. The place is quite impressive, beautiful despite being neglected. You can observe the pass of time in the paintings, tapestry and curtains,... More

The castle of the Princes de Ligne holds furniture and lots of paintings. Not all in pristine condition, but ok. The parc is huge and there is a little train that we can recommend, it helps you to get an idea of the dimension of the estate. All ponds would need cleaning, but do not smell. Impressive hedges, well cut.... More

I visited this castle several times before. The best time is between spring and autumn. Unfortunately, my friends visited in February and we had no choice. The castle could do with some restoration now, but the ground is nice for a long stroll. The overall evaluation was based on my previous visits in spring/summer time and not the one in... More

Beautiful walking grounds with lots of history. Would suggest going in the spring if you love flowers, the flower attraction is worth going to see.

Old castle, with a long lasting history. Beautiful building, nice gardens. My feeling is that the castle need better maintenance. There is mold smell. But who cares. The place is really beautiful, nice to see. Good location, easy to find, especially by GPS. There is free car park nearby.

I've been told that this is "Les Versailles Belge". In fact, I didn't expected so much, but I was really desappointed. The castle needs a restoration. There is a free parking and if you love castles, it is not bad to see it, but keep your expectations low. In addition, you can take a walk in the gardens.

Happened to visit on the day of a town festival, complete with "giants" and lots of bands in a parade of sorts. Great fun to mingle with some ordinary folks, eat festival food (the same the world over -- fried dough with sugar...delicious!) and drink fabulous Belgian beer. Someone else called the chateau "shabby," and it is that around the... More
