A conservation project by an ordinary couple attracts a lot of visitors...

A conservation project by an ordinary couple attracts a lot of visitors inspired by their efforts to transform a barren hillslope into a forest. The Butterfly is used only as a catalyst . Breeding butterflies need endemic plants , clean air and humus rich soil . Caterpillars attract lot of insect predators hence the cycle is complete. Visitors get to see the free flying butterflies only between September to December , but are more attracted to this place to interact with wildlife artist Yashodan , see his paintings , his unique rooftop garden house with rainwater tanks and the many tiny surprises that the conservatory has to offer.

First I would like to applaud the concept and effort of the person who founded this Conservatory. When we reached in the afternoon it didn't seem like a popular tourist destination as there wasn't any human in sight. After couple of shouts the caretaker came out of the woods. He very politely explained about the place and tickets charges. He... More

We have been planning this place for quite some time, and was happy to be there finally. Not the regular "touristic" spot that one would expect in goa ! The entire area was well designed and conservatory efforts by the insurer-homeopathy duo is remarkable. We were warmly greeted by the caretaker, who showed around the few birds in the large... More

We collected tickets of Rs 100 per person at the entry gate with assurance from the caretaker about availability of a decent number of butterfly species during that time. But what he ended up showing (as the owner did not bother to come up for showing us) was a small cage with few lovebirds and a few plants with not... More

We are sorry that you felt our conservation effort was a waste of your time and money . We will sensitize our caretaker Vijay to brief visitors more accurately before issuing tickets about availability of butterflies . We do agree that butterflies aren't found between 12 noon to 2 pm in this unusually warm and humid weather this year .... More

The place does not do any marketing or advertising of sorts but most tourists here come by referrals or word of mouth suggestions. The place has an awesome koi pond and an amazing rooftop garden. Other than that you get to see a whole variety of trees, some turtles, birds and of course butterflies. While this is no huge set... More

Just few love birds, a turtle and few species of plants. Nothing extraordinary. Simply waste of time, effort and money. If you really have some spare time and want to see this, then only you can proceed. Or else a big NO!!!!!!

No butterflies. Few love birds, cashew trees, a koi pond, a turtle and no dashboard. this is all the place has to offer. Very difficult to justify the money & time you spend here.

Butterfly Conservatory of Goa is an organisation started by us to afforest barren pieces of land that we buy . Each project is a culmination of many years of painstaking work using money left from our salaries and the visitor fees that we collect . We are enormously sorry that your small fortune of Rs.100 was wasted by virtue of... More

You my know that we don't place any advertisements about our place .
