Most tourists think Lumpini Park is as green as Bangkok gets, but hidden across the Chao Phraya River is the almost-island of Bang Krachao, known as the "green lungs" of the city. A 10-minute boat trip from Khlong Toey Port, it’s a vast area of unspoiled mangroves and orchards with little in the way of infrastructure. Many biking tours will organize trips to the area or you can go it alone and rent a bike when you get there.

Bang Krachao is an area of green in Bangkok's frenetic grey. Although not entirely devoid of houses, these are pinpricks of human habitation dotting the verdant landscape. The pace on Bang Krachao is slow, with most tourists choosing to explore by bicycles which can be hired by one of the piers along the Chao Praya river front on its approach.... More

After leaving the ferry you are in another world. Jungle, monitor lizards, little villages, like you left the big city by plane and not by boat. Bring your own bike or rent one at the ferry station, beware the narrow elevated roads, better get off your bike at the 90 degrees curves. Visit the floating market on weekend mornings. If... More

This is a really relaxing place. We took a small long boat across the river (the 'harbor' is a little hard to find- look for some images on the web) and hired bikes and rode around. All people were very friendly and helped with directions when we got lost (not uncommon as the map from the bike hire place is... More

From the city, we cycle through the main and side streets approaching the local river pier and loaded our rented bikes from Mr.T of Bangkok Bike Adventures. As we crossed the river, you will have this surreal excitement within you for knowing that this island has lots to offer in the heart of the busy streets of Bangkok City. The... More

It's such a nice place to visit. Anyone can go there easily, just take the long-tailed boat from Klong Toei Pier, 10 bahts per person. And there'll you be! You can rent a bicycle to bike around, 100 bahts/day/person, or you can rent it for an hour or two but I'm not sure about the price. I went there after... More

This island, only a very short trip across the river in Bangkok is a green paradise, away from the pollution and traffic of the city. Take the cheap ferry across and hire a bike to cycle round the narrow pathways that crisscross this green island. Stop at the floating market and you will only see locals shopping. Check out the... Bangkok city is a fantastic and awesome place. But after a while, you might want to try something different and new. Come to Bang Krachao to get away from the city. It's just a boat ride away from Klong Toey Jetty, and you can rent a bike to ride around the island. I enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it.

Without any noise and few tourist during Mon-Fri. The small ecosystem is pretty nice and let us feel so peaceful. To rent a nice bike and begin the adventure of this little island in the busy Bangkok. Don't tell anyone the place.
