Description: Most tourists think Lumpini Park is as green as Bangkok gets, but hidden...
Most tourists think Lumpini Park is as green as Bangkok gets, but hidden across the Chao Phraya River is the almost-island of Bang Krachao, known as the "green lungs" of the city. A 10-minute boat trip from Khlong Toey Port, it’s a vast area of unspoiled mangroves and orchards with little in the way of infrastructure. Many biking tours will organize trips to the area or you can go it alone and rent a bike when you get there.

Not easy to find the port on our own (an unforgettable taxi ride that took right through the middle of a shop), then once you find the port you take a little boat (and I mean little at water level) to the island of Ban Krachao. Once on the island rent bikes at the jetty and the obscure map and... More

It is a relaxing escape from the city. You can take a boat to cross the river and hire a bike from Bang Krachao. There are still cars in the neigbourhood but musch less than Bangkok. If you can take the narrow roads between farms it is quite and much more relaxing.

A mere 15 minutes away from bustling Sukhumvit, and you feel like transported in the middle of the country side. From Klong Thoey pier take the boat shuttle ( 10 baht ), and you are on Bang Krachao Peninsula. Extremely calm village life. Furthermore there is a very educational ecological park, with accurate bilibgual description of the mangrove forest fauna... More

No many people know about this beautiful place unless or otherwise they read reviews in Tripadvisor, I consider myself very lucky to read reviews months before I get ready for my trip to anywhere. so I also found this place on tripadvisor. Well, I think I don't have to write more to convince anyone to come here.. as you have... More

If you're in Bangkok for a week, I would not recommend bang krachao. But if you're here for a month, or living here, it is worth a visit as an escape from the city life. It is easy to reach from siam. Take bus 47 (6.5 baht) to the terminal station, walk to the pier, and pay 10 baht for... More

fantastic place to be, getaway from busy Bangkok. I enjoyed it because it has variety of fun and suitable for elders and kids as well. Recommended, park and floating market is near, so please don't miss the floating market as well.

From BTS Prakanong take 15 min taxi ride down Rama IV road to Bangkok Port. Once there walk through the Wat (temple) and catch a longtail boat across the Chaoprayah river to Bang Krachao. Finding this amazing patch of green in the centre of Bangkok is really surprising, you can hire a bicycle once there and ride to the floating... More

If you've got 4 hours to spare, this is one of the most enjoyable things to do in Bangkok. Get a tuk-tuk to Klong Toei pier, then a 10baht crossing to the island. Hire a bike where you get off for 100baht/day, and go explore! The map they provide isn't that much use, but half the fun is getting lost... More

On our recent visit to Bangkok we did a half day bike tour of Bang Krachao with SpiceRoads Cycle Tours. This is really a fascinating spot literally minutes away from the hustle & bustle & normal chaos that is Bangkok. It is like you get off the river & suddenly you are in a different world. Cycle tour was definitely... More

While I do enjoy living in Bangkok very much, I occasionally miss green spaces. Most of the public parks just don't cut it and/or are really far (Rama IX park anyone?). Enter Bang Krachao. It's easy to reach, just take a taxi to "Wat Klong Toei" and go to the pier at the back, the crossing is 10 baht. Right... More
