I believe this was a private house left to Topsham to use as a Museum ,if you are interested in history this is the place to go to there are some great stories going back to the 1600s ,when it was used as a major port and was used right up until recent years .It is very well stocked with... More

A small but wonderfully formed museum focusing on the marine history of the town. Well worth a visit.

Just like an earlier reviewer I was wandering through Topsham and stumbled across this little gem. Walking in I was met with a friendly greeting from the lady on "reception", who emphasised that admission was genuinely free (unlike some national museums where it's "This is a free museum but you WILL be making a donation of £X won't you?!"), and... brusque manner of floor manager did not go down well. He was too busy talking to a friend. Prices extremely heavy in many cases. Shall not go again.

This really is a gem of a museum with an excellent seafaring section all about Topsham in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Then you have the original house depicting furnished period rooms. Outside you have what I would describe as a secret garden with old boats and you can sit there and drink tea from the cafe which also... More

This museum has some great exhibits for all. Very interesting with staff on hand to give you pointers to any information you require plus how to get the best from your visit. There are plenty of little known facts from history stored here. Facilities to trace relatives who have lived in this area. There is a lift to the sail... More

A small museum, housed in some 17th century buildings near the river. It's small size adds to it's appeal and it houses a lot of interesting items, many relevant to the town and area, such as wildlife of the Exe estuary. A unique exhibit is some memorabilia of the actress Vivien Leigh, who had a connection with the town. There... More

The museum has had a facelift in recent years. We visited here many years ago when it was tiny! Also been recently. There is a small cafe & various things to see over 2 floors. Very good .Not always open, best to check before you go!Have fun.

Free entry, took my 6 year old granddaughter during half term, we had a great time making a mosaic, matching beaks and feet to birds, dressing up in Egyptian costumes, looking at a model of Exeter before the bombing. We will be going again as we ran out of time to see everything.
