Nice Chateau

Interesting place with a nice garden. Hammocks only for the adults. Historic buildings in which Jeane D'arc have found her warhorses.

We have visited Chateau du Rivau several times over the years. New garden areas have been has opened up each year, with quirky surprises around each corner. The owner has looked at is with an artists eye, combining ranges in each colour palette, with varieties of shapes and textures in the foliage. When the roses are in full bloom, it is... More

This is a great low-key chateau that doesn't have the crowds you find at other chateaus. They've geared it to adults - great gardens, rooms and history and also to kids - look for stuffed animals mixed in among the animal trophies and whimsical art. I went my daughter and we really enjoyed the gardens with a maze and hammocks... More

An odd combination of beautiful château and bizarre pseudo-art inside and out. Bizarre like ... a deer skeleton bride... trees with legs...but they have hammocks in the woods. The décor is kind of a "desaster!"

We visited this chateau with our two year old daughter. We all loved it! Beautiful, enchanting gardens, quirky artwork and wonderfully fragrant rose garden. Definitely well worth a visit if you're in the region. The only disappointment was the childrens' meal in the cafe. Listed as chicken pie - we got a pale chicken wing with two soggy hash browns!

What a wonderful Chateau this is. Just a walk around the gardens were a pleasant surprise, with all the fairytale characters. The giant wellies were great along with the equally giant pairs of legs. If you are visiting as a family your kids will love all the features in the garden. It may be a smaller chateau compared to others... More

We enjoyed our visit to this chateau, though some of the exhibits show a very quirky sense of humour. The rooms in the chateau are well laid out and are easy to access up the wide spiral stair case. The courtyard has a vegetable garden set in it and other features of interest, but the best part of the visit... More

This is a romantic looking castle which was a great day out for our two families. Between us we have four boys aged 1-4. There was an entry fee for the adults of €8 and all children under 5 are free. The courtyard and gardens are lovely with lots of things to discover, I won't give any spoilers. The children... More

I want to come again and bring my children. What a wonderfully magic place! One first glance, you would think, "Oh, just another boring Chateau!", but you will be happily surprised to see it's a wonderful place to bring children with beautiful, manicured gardens incorporating a fairy tale theme and a contemporary art gallery housed in the castle. Quirky and... More

We enjoyed several hours at this fascinating chateau. We were greeted by friendly staff and the first view of the vegetable garden with its art installations and bright pumpkins was very welcoming. We wandered around the extensive garden and woodlands following the trail of the ogre, including giant wellies and watering can, the gnomes in the woods, the cabin of... More
