Very enjoyable stop to taste all the different honeys for sale. The shop offers something for all. Follow the art of the history of making honey, to seeing a live hive, and lots of things for kids to play with as well. They also offer a number of other honey offshoot products which are fascinating to peruse. One of the... More

Lots for little ones to do here: see the bees at work (safely behind glass), honey tasting of course, and bee related activity tables with puzzles, colouring, etc.

We went through the session and it was pretty informative. However we were quite sad that we were not able to see the real hive though or nor we able to see the machines in person. However it was interesting nevertheless and there area good range of bee products to choose from. We know how the honey is graded now.

We came to Arataki Honey to buy some Manuka products, among them Honey, but also other things like lotion with active Manuka ingeredients like Lip Balm/Gel, washing lotion, and body lotion. Besides different grades of Honey they also have UMF certified Manuka honeys, which we were looking for. We liked that they have all their honeys up for tasting at... More

Hi Frank, Thank you for your lovely review of our centre and your photos. It's always great to get photos to give people an idea of what to expect. You are very right Arataki Honey is still a family company since 1944 and its quite possible a family member was helping you. I'm very glad you enjoyed your visit and... More

We popped in (8 adults, 4 kids) for a quick 30 minute visit. The kids had a ball - they loved looking at the bees and dressing up and tasting all the honey (very cool). Fun for a visit (and we all loved the manuka lolly / lozenges things they sell for $0.20 each) :)

Last weekend my brother was home for the weekend and his girlfriend and myself with my boyfriend did some galavanting around Hawke's Bay. We definitely made a strong decision that the Arataki Honey Visitor Centre was our favourite place to stop. It was not only informative but also interactive which is a definite must in the current tourist market. Tourists... More

Loads of lovely products to sample and gifts to buy. I love the range of cosmetics etc they have on offer and if you are in the market for an iconic buzzie bee pull along toy this is the only place i have seen one.
