Located in a building that is part of the Séminaire de Québec site, founded by Monseigneur de Laval in 1663, it is a witness and herald of a colourful past, worthy of the world's greatest epics. « less

My husband and I went to this museum on Tuesday when admission was free. It is on the site of a seminary with interesting buildings including a beautiful chapel. I found the exhibits to be very interesting. It's a small museum so you won't be spending a lot of time in there. It's worth the $8 price of admission. More

The de-sacrilized chapel of the Seminary of Québec is certainly interesting. It is well maintained. The relics certainly make in an interesting place to visit. In a separate building, is the museum itself. The permanent exhibit is a good overview of French / Québeçois history. The exhibits are captioned in English. If you are a descendant of Québec settlers, this... More

This museum is worth a visit for those who are interested in the history of French immigrants and French society in North-America (both Canada and the U.S). I found the exhibitions well done an interesting. The museum is not very big, so don’t expect to spend a lot of hours inside. Overall an exciting place to visit! More

A fascinating museum which depicts the history of the French in North America. The permanent collection to a complete outsider (from Australia) was very informative describing events such as the Louisiana Purchase and the various French-speaking populations which dispersed throughout the continent beyond Quebec, but who are now largely assimilated into English-speaking North America. At the time I visited there... More

This museum really isn't what we thought it was going to be. It is really more about the history of the seminary than it is about the history of French America, and on top of that they really didn't seem to try to make the history of the seminary interesting at all. It was nice to get in out of... More

Since we are English speakers but vacationing in French Canada this museum was the one we most wanted to visit in order to learn about the history of this part of the world. It turned out to be very worthwhile. We learned much about the French settlements and long history in Quebec and elsewhere. The exhibits were both educationally sound... More

Like many in the Northeastern U.S. my ancestors were French Canadian. And like many they did their best to become assimilated. The remembering that they speak of in Quebec was not part of our American experience. What a wonderful discovery to find in this beautiful museum that so clearly tells of the history of the French in America. If you... More

When first entering this fascinating museum, you are confronted with a stunning church, which alone is worth a visit. The museum itself is tucked away in its own little corner of Old Quebec and it seems like you are transported right to Europe! We planned to visit for half an hour, instead we spent an hour and a half! This... More
