Another beautiful cathedral. This one is the seat of the Archdiocese of Quebec, and is the church of the oldest Roman Catholic parish in North America north of Mexico. The parish was founded 350 years ago. The Basilica is a National Historic Site of Canada. This is the third rendition of the cathedral, the first was destroyed in the siege... More

This old church is beautiful inside and classic on the outside. The workmanship on the interior of the church is very beautiful. Not a particular large cathedral (as is the Notre Dame in Montreal) but well worth a visit nevertheless - especially in its commemorative year.

My husband and I enjoyed vespers in this breath-taking cathedral in Old Quebec City. It was like taking a step back into another time -- perfectly wonderful!

It was celebrating its 350th anniversary this year. One of the oldest churches in North America. Quite special to visit.

A very beautiful cathedral, specially on the inside. I'm not specially kind of religious sites, but worth a quick visit nonetheless.

We were a both Notre-Dame in Quebec and Montreal on this trip. If I had to pick one, it would be Montreal, but it is worth a short stop if your in the area.

Definitely worth a visit, lots of gold leaf, beautiful woodwork, and a feeling of grandness. If you have been to the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris and think this is going to be similar, you'll be disappointed. The windows are gorgeous. (The Notre Dame cathedral in Montreal, while not as spectacular as the one in Paris, was superior to the... More

The exterior of the Basilica is rather ordinary, but when entering main doors your breath is taken away by the altar. The interior of this church is a glow with gold leaf. When we visited, a special exhibit of a Holy Door was wrapping up. Guests were encouraged to enter the side entrance to follow a reflection path before entering... More

Inside the Basilica, you can almost feel the centuries -- imagine just how many people have passed through these doors, listened to the beautiful choirs, and gazed in wonder at the ornate alter. Beautiful and historic, steeped in history.

Basilique Cathedrale - Notre-Dame-de-Quebec may not be as grand as its sister Cathedrale in Montreal but it is a good place to start the daily Quebec sightseeing tour. The exterior and interior of the Cathedrale and the surrounding area offer many interesting photographing opportunities. Considering the Cathedrale as the center and the surrounding landmarks as added attraction, the whole exercise... More
