Description: The darkest years of New France are just around the corner with Promenades...
The darkest years of New France are just around the corner with Promenades Fantomes : The Original Ghost Walking Tour. In the very heart of old Quebec City, this unique and interactive experience will offer scares, laughs and history. Our friendly and knowledgeable ghostly guides will gladly uncover the darker side of history of the colony, recounting the stories of worst criminals, sentences and even torture practices of the French or English regimes. Meet some of the colony’s worst scoundrels with our interactive street theatre “Crimes in New-France” Discover local superstitions and legends of yore, and visit scenes where death has left its mark with “Legends and superstitions”. On a lighter note, our jolly ghosts invite you to come relive the old Christmas traditions or experience winter as the French settlers did in our tour “Christmas in New-France”. The executioner Jean Rattier and his wife Marie Riviere summon you, but one question remains: Will you dare to try it?

I loved this tour. I learned so much about crime and punishment back in the day and was it ever interesting. Our tour guide, Melanie, was awesome, and so funny. She was pretending to be the executioner's wife. She really played up the fact that she's been dead for several hundred years, and acted surprised by our "little fast portrait... More

We had such a fun evening on this tour. The actors were great and had us screaming with fright and laughing in hysterics all at once. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys a light-hearted take on some pretty heavy tales of crime and punishment during settlement days. Will definitely do the other tour offered based on... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our Crime and Punishment tour. We learned lots about early French Canadian criminals and how they were punished as we were kept very entertained by our guide, who was both knowledgeable and hilarious. We were able to see parts of both Upper and Lower Town that we hadn't seen before, and even the parts we had seen... More

This tour takes visitors on a 2 hour walk through Old Quebec; one actor serves as a guide and is supported by a troupe of actors -- some of them really talented -- who pop out at different stops to recount true stories of murder and mayhem from the French and British colonial eras in Quebec. It's a great way... More

Our guide, Mathew, was wonderful and very entertaining. Interesting stories, and an innovative way to tell about justice in Old Quebec. Definitely worth doing while in the city!

We recently visited Quebec on our honeymoon. We took this tour with Valerie B (Mary River). No one else was on else was on our tour that night, just myself and my husband, so we got a private tour. It was a ton of fun and lots of great information about the city. Valerie did an awesome job weaving stories... More

We had a blast! Very impressed with our tour guide's (JAMIE) historical knowledge and story telling abilities . Her English was excellent and her improv skills impeccable. Would recommend this tour to anyone who loves the kind of tour that shows the history of an area in a very ghoulish display of man's inhumanity to man! A real behind-the-scenes look... More

This was our first experience of Quebec City on our School Trip this past April. What a wonderful experience! The walk was excellent! We learned a lot of history about the area and the guides were very entertaining! I was very happy to do this with our grade 9 students! Awesome.
