Spent the whole morning walking through the gardens. Places to sit if tired. Very pretty Chinese garden area. The insectarium was interesting. Bugs and butterflies from all over the world. Overall a nice attraction. more

We only had a couple of hours to tour the garden after a long day of walking around the city but this was well worth every minute we spent there. We spent most of the time in the Rose, Chinese, and Japanese Gardens. The photos we took in the Chinese garden were amazing. The Bonzai garden was amazing and it... more

We visited both the Botanical Gardens and the Insectarium, as they are both on the same property and most people buy admission for both as a package deal. The insectarium was interesting... relatively small compared to the nearby Biodome, but it didn't need to be much bigger. How many insects can you possibly have? They did have some neat displays,... more

Visited Montreal for the long weekend with my wife and decided to visit the Chinese Lantern Festival within the Gardens. The downsides are that this is not the time of year to visit the Gardens and expect lots of color (we knew that going in). The wait was 2-hours on a beautiful Sunday night on the Canadian holiday weekend. This... more

Last year we were too late for the garden – arriving from Phoenix in November. This year we were there in mid-September which was a bit late for the full glory of the roses but excellent timing for the special Lantern display in the Chinese gardens. The Japanese gardens were also great with its fascinating display of 100 years +... more

Wow, this place was amazing! So many different gardens/forests/paths/ etc! It was absolutely beautiful! Our favorite part had to be the Chinese garden, because of the wonderfully designed buildings, ponds, and waterfalls. We also loved the Roserie and the Japanese garden. Everything was beautiful, so I don't even need to bother telling you which parts were the best! They were... more

My wife and I visited the Montreal Botanical Gardens in late June 2008 and enjoyed the experience thoroughly! Top three experiences: 1) Chinese Garden, 2) Alpine Garden, & 3) exhibition garden. We've yet to visit a botanical garden that was better than this. The restaurant provided a welcome respite at midday for lunch and mid-afternoon for a break. (The panini... more

A beautiful layout and well groomed plots is what you will find when you visit the Botanical Gardens. One of the largest gardens in the world, it is truly a spectacular sight! I especially recommend the rose garden, Chinese Garden and the area surrounding the lilacs and pond. A free train/shuttle goes through the garden dropping off and picking up... more

Hello Fellow Travellers We were lucky enough to be visiting Montreal Quebec when the Botanical Gardens were hosting the "Chinese Lantern Light Show". What a delightful experience it was. The show was held in the latter half of October, 2007. The evening that we went to see the show it was a beautiful fall night. The Lantern show was spectacular... more

I just had a 4 day vacation to the lovely and rommantic city of Montréal, Quebec. First off, I'd like to say that Montréal is a very inviting francophone city and has a lot to offer. The botanical is fantastic. I know a lot of us when we go places, don't want to do the touristy thing and want to... more
