We only went to the gardens in the evening to see the lanterns so that is all I can comment on. The lanterns are worth a trip in themselves. They are spectacular. I had built them up in my mind that I was a bit worried I would be disappointed, but I was not in the least. There are so... more

The Botanical Gardens are huge. There is an insectarium on site as well, for an additional fee. The gardens are beautiful, but even after a couple of hours walking around we weren't even CLOSE to having seen the entire grounds. Give yourself lots of time to view the entire venue, and wear comfy shoes! I also recommend packing snacks, as... more

I visited the garden in Sep with my husband. We liked it a lot, probably the best memory in Montreal. The garden is beautiful, esp. Chinese garden and Japanese garden. Lanterns in Chinese garden at night is awesome. Tea ceremony in Japanese garden is also nice, if you come in time, and have an extra 40 minutes. Otherwise, does not... more

This is a terrific destination. Please be sure to leave at least a half day for this. I would take a picnic and spend the day if we go again. Beautiful Chinese and Japanese Gardens. more

On a beautiful Sept day I visited the Botanical Gardens and they are some of the most beautiful and peaceful exhibits I've seen! The gardens are very well kept. I took a couple paths and found myself in complete silence and peace. You could literally just wonder around for hours. The Japanese and Chinese gardens are extremly beautiful. I also... more

We visited the botanical gardens on a free day along with the Biodome and the insectarium. The botanical garden was the best out of the three by far! We particulary liked the Chinese and Japanese gardens, they were beautiful and we even saw a red squirrel! There are many other areas and themed gardens too and so much to walk... more

Strongly recommend people who visit Montreal in fall to go to the Magic of Lanterns at the Montreal Botanical Garden. The lanterns are on from September 11 to November 1st in the Chinese Gardens. The theme of this year is Chinese Astronomy. (The Montreal Planetarium is setting up telescopes on Thursday nights for you to watch the sky too) If... more

We loved the gardens...especially the sensory garden where you could touch and smell the plants. There was a lot to see, smell and do and our kids really enjoyed it as well. more

Very beautiful, with a number of spectacular themed gardens and hothouses. The Japanese and Chinese gardens are a must-see. The Japanese and the Chinese seem to be involved in a friendly competition that has resulted in two large collections of bonsai and penjing. If you have kids, do not miss the Insectarium. more
