I expected the walk to be a scary one. However, turns out that it was more of a theater performance type. The make up and dressing of the ghost were incredibly good. Each ghost... read more

Having done ghost tours in many cities (I have a teen daughter), the best strike that delicate balance between story telling and real history. This didn't hit that mark, we had a very large, very large tour guide attracting so much attention that the group was splintering off, it was embarrassing. Learned nothing.

On a cold and dark November first we went on the Montreal ghost tour. We found it was more of a visit to the past rather than a frightful tour. Young actors convincingly played the role of a ghost relating a portion of their life in the early years of montreal. The most poignant story was the last one. I... More

I expected the walk to be a scary one. However, turns out that it was more of a theater performance type. The make up and dressing of the ghost were incredibly good. Each ghost would spend 4-5 mins talking about their living past. The stories they told were interesting and the ghost are very good actors, and they do interact... More

We stopped on our way to US in MonItreal. We had just half day to spare. We booked a personal tour with " Fantomes Montreal Ghosts" . They were gracious enough to arrange a tour in a very short notice and assigned a guide Caroline to us. On that day there was a Montreal marathon and many roads in the... More

We really, really enjoyed the Montreal ghosts! My 12 yr old son and 15 yr old daughter appreciated greatly walking around old Montreal. My son feared that it would be scary but it was the total opposite. Both children participated in their own way to the presentation. The only problem was that four ghosts weren't enough. We highly recommend it... More

My friend and I had a great time on this tour! The guide was an excellent story teller, and was very knowledgeable. I was very apprehensive about the pace of the walking ghost tour, but this was soon put to rest. The tour was at a very leisurely and manageable pace. I would definitely recommend this!

We went on the Friday night ghost hunt. Great way to wander the old city at night with my 15 year old son. The ghosts were great and brought history to life. Cost was similar to going to a movie but so much more fun and educational.

I had the opportunity to go on this tour on a first time visit to Montreal. What I enjoyed was walking around Old Montreal at night (up and down dark allies) and hearing neat stories of the past. I didn't find it scary at all and wasn't that shocked by any of the 'stories'. I think the guide you get... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
