Great Day of Biking

I hadn't seriously ridden a bike in years, and was nervous. I told the guy who helped us (Sebastian?) that if this was a horse, I wanted an old, slow, gentle one. Long story short, my bike was sturdy and easy to ride and we covered so much more of Montreal in a day than we had even hoped.

We researched the best places to rent bikes in Montreal and we came across Ma Bicyclette. The guys there are friendly and provide excellent and fast customer service. You can rent bikes for $10 per hour to a max of $30 for the day. All you need to do is leave your ID with them while you're riding. We renting... More

I would definitely recommend renting a bike from ma bicyclette. We rented from the new location in Old Montreal. The bikes were in good condition, perfect for riding around the city. The service from the staff was better than expected. Montreal is a "bike friendly" city so going anywhere in the city is easy and safe.

Best place to rent bikes on the canal. It's right on the bike path and the bikes are well-maintained. They even have tandems. I would definitely rent from them again!

With a visitor from Vancouver, we decided to rent bicycles as we wanted to cycle the Lachine canal. At Ma Bicyclette, we could find a very good bicycle, easy to ride and secure. Moreover, the renter ajusted our seats and was happy to explain how to manage the bicycle. Very good service and quality bicycles... we were enchanted! And the... More

I have been renting bikes from Ma Bicyclette when friends come into town to visit, for 5 years or more. I took one of their guided tours of downtown Montreal a couple of years ago and it was professionally guided and quite interesting. I have also rented numerous bikes from them over the years and their equipment has always been... More

We spotted this little bike shop when we had stopped to sit by the Lachine Canal. We decided to go for it. We didn't have to make reservations we just arrived and rented our bikes. They helped us with everything and they have a lot of options. We biked along the canal which was great and well all the way... More

We hired a bike and cruised around the island. The staff were helpful in directing us in the right direction and pointing out a brewery or 2. The bikes are in very good condition (as new) and rode very well. I thought, at $30 for day, the price was fair for what we got.

The ride down the canal or up to the City is easy. The bikes are in good shape, the staff are fully bilingual, helpful and the process is simple. Its a great way to see part of Montreal and to enjoy the bikeways of Montreal. The bikes are better than the rent on the street ones and the ones on... More

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighborhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialized Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
