After eating at Les Deux Singes de Modarvie, we were walking towards the Laurier metro. We came upon this bar at app. 9:30pm and it had lots of good tables open that evening. A gorgeous evening, many people choose to sit on the terrace. We sat inside on a table that was adjacent to the open window, what I would... More

Great service and choice of cocktails that differ from the usual candy tasting (and way too sweet) cocktails served in bar and nightclubs. Great place for a night out with friends, as you can actually have conversations and hear each other talking! The only thing is you need to arrive early, as the place is quite small (seated places only)... More

I came here with my girlfriend, it's a nice location in the plateau. From the start when you enter, the atmosphere is great, the music is good and not to loud. The place is beautiful with nice white leather chairs and a wall of med bottles. We ordered the grilled-cheese, chips, and meat slices, and everything was top notch, the... More

I visited the Baldwin while with friends for a drink as a pre-dinner for some drinks in a nice and coll place. Here's how my experience went: 1- Location Baldwin is located on Laurier street in a very vibrant part of Montreal just north of downtown. It is very easily accessible on foot if you live in the vicinity but... More

I am not a bar person but Baldwin's was great. The atmosphere is really nice, the waiters and bartenders are so nice and helpful. Ours kept recommending drinks and was very friendly. Drinks are average 8-12$ a drink. It was a quieter night as the weather was one of our Montreal snow storms however there was enough people for a... More

We came here after a poor restaurant experience and ordered almost all te food on their menu. This place only offers bar food and the menu is very limited so if you want to eat this isn't where to go. They have a great selection of drinks and the atmosphere is great, very cozy and happening. I would recommend this... More

I would have given a higher rating if I didn't have a bad waitress experience there. I went there and wanted to pay for everything myself. I explained this to the waitress too. I usually like the atmosphere there but the drinks were always a bit expensive and it was hard to get a reservation. At the end, it costed... More

This is absolutely my go-to bar. Low key during the week and earlier in the evenings, gets busy around 9:30-10:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Innovative concept and design, the 25-35ish crowd is a mix of trendy/chic/hipster, yummy drinks (Dr. Ho is my fav!!!), nice staff. Harley, Alfie and Mark are the best. The bouncers (James!) are awesome. The great thing... More

Have a fancy cocktail in a very hip atmosphere! Definitely worth the trip in Montreal. Loved the Rum Punch.

We visited this place on a Friday night and it felt right from the moment we stepped in! Great atmosphere, lively crowd and good background music. It was a bit crowded but that just made the place more interesting. The mixologists are busy but efficient; we never waited too long for our next drink. We tried various drinks from their... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
