When visiting new cities we do bike tours whenever possible. We also pay a bit more form a private tour. Montreal is an extremely bike friendly city and Montreal On Wheels does a great job. We took a four hour tour and covered about 25 km. It was a great way to see the city and our guide was great... More

This is our third visit to Montreal. This visit we brought our biking gear so that we could experience for ourselves the Montreal trail system. Ca Roule Montreal staff were warm and knowledgeable. We were quickly outfitted with high quality hybrids and on our way. It was a sunny, blustery day along Canal Lachine, but we thoroughly enjoyed our ride... More

An excellent way to experience Montreal. I took the City Tour with our guide Anne Marie. The tour was great. Besides seeing some of the typical sights in Old Montreal, we saw a lot of beautiful surrounding neighborhoods and parks. Anne Marie was friendly and informative. I will definitely recommend bike tours to anyone visiting Montreal.

I decided to book as a spur of the moment for something to do on the bank holiday weekend. Had a great half day tour of the city and the Lachine canal with Pierre-Carl as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and informative. The pace was about right for a mixed age group. The tour of the city Contrasts was... More

This was a great experience from start to finish. Andre at Ca Roule patiently responded to several emails as I worked to book this for our group of 9-11 girls. We changed our number several times before the final date, and Andre patiently answered my questions and created multiple invoices. Then, day of, an additional member of the group decided... More

I took the city tour on my first day in Montreal and got a tremendous overview of the city. The second day, I rented bikes with a friend and we did 30 miles along the canal following a route they suggested. I highly recommend Montreal on Wheels.

We rented bikes April 19th-20th. This was our first visit to Montreal. So glad we did! Bikes were of great quality. Staff were helpful showing us the map and various routes we could take. Good price, great service. Would recommend this! Montreal has lots of bike lanes on the roads. We felt very safe and it's easy to get around.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
