We took the architecture tour along the waterfront on both sides of the St. Lawrence. Carol, our guide, was a very cheerful, attentive and informative guide for our 4 hours of flat pathway & street biking. We learned much about the history of Montreal as well as about the significant buildings & developments. We saw and learned far more than... More

Carole and her 2 colleagues in training were informative, fun and great Montreal ambassadors. I spent half a day on the architectural tour and realize how much more this city has to offer! Definitely another tour with Montreal on Wheels next time I visit. The city's miles and miles of safe bike trails are something to be proud of!

I took the Montreal Plus tour and had a great time. The tour lasts for about 4 hours, but is not too strenuous. The biking is fairly easy except for a couple of short, steep hills which are not challenging even for a beginner cyclist. I loved that we saw not only some main, must-see parts of the city, but... The tour is great because the tour guide, Pam, shows us those local places that the tourists seldom visit. We learned about the houses in Montreal. We saw the alley ways, local parks, depanneur, synagogues, bagel shop, and the beach! We went to the big attractions the next day by ourselves, so it is a great way to see complete... More

My wife and I were not able to participate in the morning tour so we very much appreciated all the help we got in making our own tour in the afternoon. Bikes were solid, in great shape and the explanation of our ride options on the map was perfect. The staff never made us feel rushed.

This was a quick decision for me. I generally have my days mapped out and I know what I want to do a and see. This time I didn't. But the experience was awesome. The tour and tour guide were good, but my favorite part about this place if you're interested in biking is that because it started raining at the end of our tour, they said we can have the bikes again the next day for free. And they even brought it up without me asking! I admit I hadn't realized you get... More

I was amazed at how organized and professional the service was at this bike rental shop. The provided a huge bin to store... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
