What can I say...?? It is a VERY nice place to visit, the FIRST bank in Upper Canada (or is it Lower Canada ?) and it was then called the Molson's bank.... (the beer people) . Have a look at the building on the corner of St-Jacques & St-Pierre: THAT was actually the first branch.

A fully bilingual bank with friendly service. Good for day to day banking and a number of good locations.

Historic building is nice, but the Bank of Montreal Museum is tiny without a lot to see, although it does have some interesting items related to banking and money.

Unfortunately Toronto head office people have been closing historical banks in Montreal. Historical buildings. The Bank of Montreal is Canada's First Bank with a Pantheon like building in Place D'armes... you must go inside. There is a free money museum and the inside is magnificant. Hopefully Toronto will not close this bank as well... !!!

Thought it was going to be a museum-like setup, however it was just a bank. BEAUTIFUL but still just a bank. It had marble columns...at least 25 feet tall, old style teller booths, some artifacts.
One thing that erked me was a plaque on an outside wall explaining that a native chief was killed there in 1644 by the founder...
