A good sized theatre with good sound and sightlines. Let down by ushers still admitting late comers 30 minutes after the show had started and a lack of places to buy snacks/drinks in venue itself - though are plenty in the wider centre.

The past two visits they have had very interesting contemporary FILM art. Place des Arts only had one museum, and it looked like one was shut down or being renovated.

I thought this was just a concert hall, but we had gone in after hours and saw many of the interesting art installations: multimedia display of pale faces with red eyes, an "igloo" constructed of speakers; and modernist red benches scattered through the first hall. Our visit was short but interesting nonetheless.

Go for the shows, but also go to walk around and go for the restaurants and go for the shops as well. Use the PdA parking (only 10$) and you can leave your coats in the car during winter. Fun place in the summer with the festivals on the esplanade!

The place des arts is now part of "le quartier des spectacles" , so it is like being at the lincoln center, but if you are lucky you may see outdoor shows , beautiful light shows and in the summer, water fountains , the entrance through the subway vrings a new dimension because of the restaurants and the art exhibits... That's it. Wow. You've got to see this place--state of the art in every possible way. It's like stepping into an enormous cello--all wood. The acoustics are out of this world, and the orchestra is superb, of course. Place des Arts gives Montreal something else to boast about!

Went there for the Green Day musical. Sound was terrible ( seen this production in Boston 2 years ago and it sounded excellent ), and the place is falling in pieces. They revamped the exterior but the interior is in need of some love. Wallpaper falling, doors missing, carpet thorn, missing molding, etc... Indoor parking was easy and only 10$
