Very nice building not far from other must-see spots in town. Even the train station was nice. Once you come out of the main "place" (whether you visit the museum or not), you are right in the heart of the art district. Luckily for us, an art festival was going on.

Lively, energetic fun-filled place. Often local music or artists can be viewed here. It's well worth the visit.

There's so much going on in the area. This is a great cultural escape. The crowds outside are difficult. It's also good to come to the museum early.

Housed within the Quartier des spectacles, the Place des Arts has become a formidable repository for all things art. But it functions as so much more than this. The Place des Arts is an area to see to be seen, to protest, to stroll and relax and eat with friends. At least that was my experience. While I was here,... More

Easy access location via train or taxi. Near China town, cafes and shops around to poke around in or sit down for refreshments or people watch.

Have been here many times and have seen a variety of performances from concerts like Roger Waters of the Who to ballet. Always a great venue with comfy seating which is so very I portent when you have to sit for any length of time!

With great weather and comfortable walking shoes, this is the place to be. Every time we passed one store, the next was even better. We spent a whole afternoon here and didnt get to do what we came down for but well worth it.

For more than ten years we have been traveling to Montreal for the Jazz Festival centered in the Place des Arts. Our origin al visits found a situation of low key, "just hang out" stages and performances. The event has evolved into a more formal situation, but continues to be very aware of the concerns and needs of the consumer.... More

The venue is good for concerts and does not seem to have a bad seat. Acoustics are good as well. They desperately need to add more ladies restroom facilities.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
