We were recently there for the Just for Laughs festival. There is a hugh plaza outside the front entrance on St. Catherine Street, where there are all sorts of activities taking place all summer (The Jazz Festival) as an example. It's right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Parking can be a problem. Enjoy

What a great design. You will find something, a show for everyone. From Opera to One man show , variety is an option there all year long. Right on one of the most interesting street of Montreal, Ste-Catnerine Street, it is very easy to get there by subway, bus, car or even walking.

What a great place to just walk, sit, visit! At night the illuminations are outstanding. Modern food outlets and coffee shops make it easy to grab a bite and just head out to sit amidst the artsy feel of Place des Arts

I have been so many times to the Place des Arts I highly recommend it. I have multiple sclerosis and it is very handicap friendly. There are elevators and escalators.

This pedestrian zone in mid-city throbs in nice weather and on weekends. Cafes and performance art abound.

There is not a bad seat in the theater. The theater is well known as having the best acoustics in the entertainment industry.

While not beautiful in itself, what is great here at the Place des Arts are all the venues for performances. We enjoyed two concerts in two different halls, as well as the nearby Contemporary Art Museum and an on-site cafe. It is clear that in the winter one can enjoy all these arts activities without ever having to go outside!

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
