We went to the start location as directed but the tour never formed. We ended up doing the walk ourselves. Maybe we didn't see all we should, but you can't beat that price!

We did the tour of Old Montreal and enjoyed it very much. Our guide was a Montreal Native and brought to life the history, people and stories of old Montreal. It's a beautiful, culturally enriching tour we would strongly recommend to all first time visitors!Note: to go inside the Notre Dame Cathedral is an extra charge of 5$ CAD but... More

As this was our first and probably last visit to Montreal (long way from Australia), we thought that this tour would be great way to experience the sights of old Montreal. It certainly was that, despite a little unfortunate weather, (rain), we very much enjoyed the experience and highly recommend the provider.

If you are a first time visitor to Montreal (as I was). This is a great way to get immersed in the culture and history of old montreal. Our guide Carol was great. She had wonderful stories about the early people of Montreal that really breathed life into the beautiful buildings and quaint cobblestone streets. She also gave great suggestions... More

The tour starts at the Basilica de Notre Dame and goes for 1.5 hours. Our you was of the East side of Old Montreal. It was informative and Carole told some good stories and was quite funny. Quite a bit was outside, and it was windy and cold. Bundle up if you are going in the winter.

We booked both the old & new walking tour and had the pleasure of having Carole as our guide on both. Carole has exceptional knowledge of both the history as well as all the sites we visited. The pace was great! Not too fast or too slow. Highly recommend these two tours!

Tour meets outside Notre Dame boutique (on RHS when standing looking at front of church). It lasts 90 minutes and takes in Notre Dame and various parts of old town. We had Louis as our guide who has been a Montrealer all his life and he had plenty of interesting stories about the old parts of Montreal. Can high recommend... More

We(4 of us on a weekend trip) went into the walking tour not knowing what to expect, and or, what neat facts we would learn on our tour. The insight into Notre Dame, and the guides personal connection to many of the places on the tour was an added bonus. We walked around(albeit the rain/showers), and the guide pointed out... More

This tour was terrible. Way too many people (including a screaming toddler) and our tour guide had zero personality. The tour moved at a snails pace and our entire group of 4 would not recommend it. We had tried to hire a private tour guide but they were all sold out. Best part was Notre Dame Basilica (first stop) otherwise,... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
