Small museum in Miscouche, a town west of Summerside, PEI about the history of the people who settled in this area from France in the 1700's. The information and displays were helpful to understand these proud, tenacious people. The lady who welcomed us is a descendant of some of the original people.

This museum has one of the best videos explaining the history of the Acadians that I have ever seen. The Acadians, from Nova Scotia, and PEI to Louisiana are survivors, and the video explains the history of their travels and their remarkable resiliency very well. The displays on local history are well arranged, and the archaeological exhibit ties everything together.... More

The Acadian Museum is a small museum but it packs in a lot of interesting history and culture. Plan on one to two hours to tour the whole collection, including a good video overview of the Acadians. The exhibits on the lives of the French speaking immigrants speak to the difficulties this group faced for over a hundred years -... More

This was well worth the trip. The beautiful museum was quite informative. We learned quite a bit about Acadian history.

A friend recommended that we make the Acadian Museum part of our tour of Western PEI. Rather glad that we did! We are from NS so we know the Acadian story from here. However, I never realized how the expulsion affected other maritime provinces. The video was very interesting and gave some great background information. The displays explaining how a... More

To be honest, I was not that familiar with Acadian history to begin with, but the vibrant exhibition (along with the introductory video) really enhanced my knowledge. I really enjoyed it and it was totally worth the stop!

You will learn things you had no idea of. Fantastic museum loaded with history. Most people dont know the roots of Canada or the atrocities the early settlers in the East faced. Enjoy it, learn and pass along!

I knew that the Arcadian's were displaced before we visited this small museum, but I had no idea how they were forced to leave their new homes so many times. A classic example of man' inhumanity to man. If I had just seen the video I would have been satisfied with the visit as the exhibits simply repeat and add... More

With friends on a cycling tour of Prince Edward Island, I stopped at the Acadian Museum for not quite long enough. We arrived at the end of the day, with only a little over an hour to spend in the museum, which was a bit rushed. The exhibits were well done and informative. The history of the Acadians was better... More

Amazing history of Acadia in a nicely laid out little museum in Miscouche. They start with an exceptionally well done video overview before an independent tour. Loved the first hand accounts of people's experiences. Everyone should take the opportunity to learn more about this part of PEIs history.
