As a Teacher I loved this!

Excellent history of Acadian History. Best part is that there is an excellent display about archeology with hands on activities for all ages.

This is a very well done explanation of the Acadian experience in the new world. Acadia is someplace we have heard of, but never really understood its tragic history and current revival until we went here.

A great way to learn about the Acadian heritage in PEI. They have a video you can watch in french or english, then there are two parts to the museum. Small (can do it in an hour). They also have a room where you can trace your roots as they have a lot of genealogy about the Acadians in the... More

This museum is within walking distance of the Prince County B & B where we stayed (excellent B&B). The exhibits describe the early French settlers to the island and the archeological site being excavated with artifacts. The descriptions are in French and English and are done well.

Husband sister in law and I attended a lecture recently by George Arsenault, a local Historian regarding the original settlers of Lot 17 known as Miscouche, my Husbands home town. We live in Vancouver now and it was a nice stop on our travels, very well done, interesting stuff. Nice book store with great prices and a research room.Super nice... More

Regardless of whether you are interested in learning about your Acadian ancestry or are looking to learn more about the Acadians on P.E.I., the museum is worth a visit. The visit begins with a 15-minute video, which you can choose to watch in either English or French. The displays are really well done and accompanying text is very informative, providing... More

This is a nice little museum just outside of Summerside 's main town area. We had first heard some of the history in Nova Scotia and this museum ties it all together. We started with a great video which nicely summarizes the periods and then walked through the exhibits which were excellent and included first person accounts of the deportation.... More

Small museum in Miscouche, a town west of Summerside, PEI about the history of the people who settled in this area from France in the 1700's. The information and displays were helpful to understand these proud, tenacious people. The lady who welcomed us is a descendant of some of the original people.

This museum has one of the best videos explaining the history of the Acadians that I have ever seen. The Acadians, from Nova Scotia, and PEI to Louisiana are survivors, and the video explains the history of their travels and their remarkable resiliency very well. The displays on local history are well arranged, and the archaeological exhibit ties everything together.... More

The Acadian Museum is a small museum but it packs in a lot of interesting history and culture. Plan on one to two hours to tour the whole collection, including a good video overview of the Acadians. The exhibits on the lives of the French speaking immigrants speak to the difficulties this group faced for over a hundred years -... More
