Have caught a couple of shows now. This week we saw a tribute that had a collection of people and bands playing. It really is a place to find unique and highly talented musicians. There is not a bad seat in the house - everyone is close to the stage. Drinks are great, service is good (remembering it is busy... More

I've been to Hugh's Room about a half-dozen times over the years, usually for folk or jazz acts. The multiple levels of seating make for good sightlines, even for the farther-away tables. I've generally booked a table for dinner to ensure good seats, but most recently just came for the musical act (in this case, the Jazz Wizards' tribute to... More

Doesn't it make for a great evening when your expectations are not only met, but exceeded to the point of very pleasant surprise! My not having visited Hugh's room in a few decades, all I could recall was that it was a small, dimly-lit venue. Isn't it amazing that the room, with only the passage of time, has become a... More

My Girlfriend and I bought tickets for a Jazz venue and when we went there we where told because we did not have a dinner reservation that we would have to sit on round backless stools located at the very corners of the restaurant. I thought that was a terrible way to seat people who bought tickets but did not... More

Had my first Hugh's Room experience this past Valentine's Day with my wife. As noted by other reviewers, all the seats in the place have a good view of the stage. The entertainment when we were there was a jazz ensemble that was a lot of fun and amazing musicians. Sound was excellent. Stage lighting was simple but effective. In... More

There's not a bad seat in the house. Service is prompt and courteous, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I have been twice and will go back. Although the food choices seem to be less than exciting, it does make it worthwhile to book for dinner, and stay for the show you want to see. They book super musical... More

I felt lucky to have found a place in Toronto that had music and dancing on NYE that appealed to an audience over 40! Most of the hotels and clubs had identical DJ or band presentations designed for the 20's and 30's age group. The food was OK, with rather slow service and luke-warm dishes. Choices were limited but adequate.... More

We love Hugh's Room for the music but the food and food service yesterday was again barely passable. The server took a lot of time asking us what we wanted for appetizers (soup) and what for entre's (salads) and the salad's still arrived first. The soup was barely warm, served in cold bowls and very salty. The salads were ok... More

We've been here twice now. Most recently, we went to see Last Waltz. What an amazing concert. The musicians really put on a good show. This place is small so you can get very close to the stage. Both times we made dinner reservations to ensure we got a seat at a table. The size of the venue also means... More

We've been many times, and the most recent did not disappoint. The atmosphere and live music were wonderful. We reserved for dinner beforehand as a way to ensure good seats. The portions were large, but not great, with the exception of the lovely caesar salad. Our service, though, was excellent - attentive, but not pushy. I asked for, and received... More
