A friend and I took the downtown Toronto food tour and it was a great way to see this part of the city. She was visiting from the US and I was just moving back into the area after quite a few years and were only available to do a tour on a Monday (no scheduled tours were available that... More

Wow. We visited Toronto as tourists for the first time. I have worked in Toronto, visited theatre, large entertainment events, but never have stayed with the intention to learn about the city. The service over the phone was inviting and informative when I booked. They were more than flexible when half my group couldn't make it and have me a... More

... In a war canoe! This was a blast! Thursday evening, we rendezvous with a few other Aussies and a bunch of folk we never met, and furtively step into a massive canoe. It turns out, we did not need to tiptoe, this craft takes twenty people and is very stable. Looking chunky, clad in personal flotation devices, we paddle... More

Guide Ian provided an excellent tour full of interesting historical tidbits and behind the scenes restaurant advice. My husband and I highly recommend this tour.

Get your money's worth- -don't eat breakfast beforehand. Lots of interesting and diverse food choices keyed to small local outlets with a personable and knowledgeable guide.

We went on the St Lawrence Market and Old City tour. real history lesson about the area made interesting and fun by Chef Ian. Tour ran over because everyone was so interested. Well thought out food samples and great portions. We were a diverse group of 11 strangers from all over Canada and the US and Ian found a way... More

Chef Scott was a perfect guide; knowledgeable about the history of the area; an obvious food aficionado; and personable in his delivery of all his stories and anecdotes. The food was very good and all the variety you could want. It was great to find so many hidden gems; coffee shop, ice cream shop, bacon store, bakery, sustainable fish market,... More

When booking the Ossington Tour for a group of five with a wide range of interests and dietary restrictions (including a couple of vegetarians and person who is gluten free by need, has a number of food allergies and reacts to high levels of sulphites) I thought it couldn't be done. Chef Scott and Ian put everyone at ease (including... More

My wife and I had a great time on the tour. It was family friendly, but we had left the kids at home so we could celebrate our anniversary. Fortunately for us, we were the only two on the tour. Jeff Scott was very accommodating and helpful to us when we had to re-book due to a funeral. We both... More

My wife and I did this tour with my sister. We had a great time! We actually had the Founder and as his card describes him "The Chief Eating Officer" (CEO) of the company Chef Scott Savoie for our tour guide. What a wonderful time! I strongly recommend this company and this tour!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
