Recently returned from a visit to the AGO. We happened to see the Alex Colville exhibit, but there is always a special exhibit going. On leaving the exhibit, we wandered into the room containing Henry Moore sculptures. We were the only ones there, and it struck me as a place of quiet and contemplation, with the unusual sculptures arrayed in... More

This is an art museum that provides great architecture, wonderful Canadian collections and great installations of feature artists. This past visit included an Alex Coleville retrospective that was brilliant. Their shows are always really well curated with good narratives that appeal to a variety of audiences and use a lot of multimedia. Well worth the visit.

A gorgeous and playful gallery inside and out, thanks to the re-design by Frank Gehry, with an excellent permanent collection and thoughtfully curated special exhibits. The collection of Canadian art is exceptional.

I went alone during the Wei Wei Exhibit and absolutely loved it. It was so inspiring and satisfying to my European senses in every way, just go check it out and see for yourself!

Nothing wrong about the AGO. Have been going for more than 30 years and there are new and pleasant discoveries every time.

I love Alex Colville's work, and was really pleased to be able to catch this exhibition between meetings on one of my business trips to Toronto. I especially appreciated the short videos spread throughout the exhibition where both Colville, his family, art historians and some of Canada's cultural mavens (Alice Munro and Ann-Marie MacDonald, for example) spoke about Colville's work.

A wonderful place to spend a morning or even a day. There is a wide variety of exhibits to enjoy, the staff are welcoming and the gift shop is a great place to do your "Christmas Shopping."

The AGO is a great place to spend a day, especially when the weather outside is frightful, as it is this time of year. The Alex Colville exhibit is fascinating as is the Michaelangelo exhibit. The AGO has also added an interactive Kids Gallery, which is brilliant. After touring the exhibits, grab some yummy lunch at Frank, which changes its... More

Don't miss it if ouy're in Toronto. It is a treasure from the architecture of the building ( like a beached whale on Dundas St) to the collection. My favorite section is the Canadian art, especially the superb collection of the Group of Seven. There is an excellent cafe and gift store as well. I visit Toronto at least once... More

Once a hodge podge of clashing and confusing additions, the museum's most recent expansion and re-design by starchitect Frank Gehery did a nicel job of knitting together its formerly disparete parts.Although the AGO is on the blockbuster tour circuit, it's primarily the smaller travelling and permanent exhibits that make a visit worthwhile. And while parts of the permanent collection seem... More
