Wow, did I really visit the same place? I spent several wonderful hours here and enjoyed the Thompson Canadian collection as well as the European art -- which I wish I'd had more time to see. I loved the Henry Moore gallery. The AGO building is a work of art in itself ... the Gehry remodel is amazing. I was... more

This was a complete waste of time and not to mention a fortune we spent on the admission. The staff who worked there are the most nasty, vile people you will ever meet. After the gallery spent millions of dollars to renovate, there is still nothing to see, just big rooms of nothing. more

I recently visited AGO and left feeling a bit disappointed. I thought paying $18 admission fee was a litttle steep but I thought I would have to take a look . Firstly,.the staff are not the friendliest and couldn't even manage a smile as we handed over $36. And we were rather abruptly told that our bag must go in... more

The Gehry redesign of the AGO makes the building a piece of art itself. Especially notable are the wooden spiral staircases that seem to descend from the ceiling. When you climb them to the last few floors there are also windows around the staircase affording a cool view of the rooftops surrounding the museum. The highlight of our visit was... more

Visiting a major art museum is usually a highlight of my trips. I’m sorry to say that AGO did not live up to my expectations. On top of that, they charge $18 CAN for adult admission. First, the positives: overall, the redesigned space looks great. I enjoyed the Henry Moore collection, the exhibit “Surreal Things,” and individual works of art... more

I had a great visit to the AGO earlier this month and I think that the redesign by Gehry makes this a wonderful venue to visit. The main collections are: African & Oceanic, Canadian, Contemporary and European. There is a great exhibition of ship models in the basement. I enjoyed the free 45 minute "mini-tour" I took in the Canadian... more

This museum is going through a major renovation. For $5 per person, we were disappointed. I would say there were about 5 exhibits on two floors, each one was about 1 room (maybe two). There just isn't much there. They are supposed to be showing an Ansel Adams exhibit later in the month that probably would be worth the money,... more

Only one interesting small gallery and that was a temporary exhibit during the major renovations taking place. Not worth a visit until rebuild completed in 2008. more

I was in Toronto overnight on a Thursday and read that the AGO was open until 9PM that eve (and, I think, Wed eve as well?). I knew that the museum was almost entirely closed down save for the Catherine the Great exhibit and the Henry Moore sculptures... but what great way to spend 1-2 hours! The staff was very... more
