As a frequent walking-tour-taker of cities globally, I highly recommend the Downtown Toronto & PATH tour by Tour Guys. My own acid test is that a tour takes you to city-parts/nooks/sights that you would not have stumbled on yourself. This tour definitely does this! Admittedly we knew very little history or trivia of Toronto but felt both entertained and informed... More

I recently visited Toronto for the first time, and my friends had read about Tour Guys' walking tour of the financial district, which started at Union Station and ended at City Hall. Neal was welcoming to all and enthusiastic and professional throughout the tour. We were lucky to have a sunny day for our tour, but much of the tour... More

This tour is a good investment of 90 minutes or so for an informative introduction to Toronto's financial district

Although the weather was pouring rain with extremely strong winds we all walked through old Toronto from our tour guy Stephen. He liked our stories and jokes. But learning history in a fun way was exactly what we wanted. Thank you!

We decided to go on the walking tour over the weekend last Saturday. Usually when something is free, everyone knows that it is not that great, however I must say this was much more than expected. We were asked to meet at the stairs of Old City hall downtown Toronto for the Toronto Dark History Tour: "Death, Disease & Destruction"... More

very nice with tour guide, Jackie. We had a big crowd and everyone kept up. i was worried because the tour was free-- and sometimes free isn't always the best, but this was!

Neil was an engaging guy. The tour lasts two hours, which was a bit long (too many anecdotes about his family), but, for the most part, full of good tidbits about Toronto and lots of heart.WeI liked the details about downtown architecture. Neil had an engaging spirit and good projection. Very good value (works for tips).

This is a great way to start a visit to Toronto. Our guide was Neal and he was first class. The tour was very informative and interesting and we both really enjoyed it.

We took the Downtown Toronto tour on 9/25. Our tour guide was great and efficiently handled a rather large group of 20, leading us through downtown Toronto and providing interesting commentary. In the afternoon we took the Toronto Dark History tour. Again the tour guide was great. These are two of their four free tours. I would heartily recommend both... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
