Spontaneously decided to do the downtown city tour which was a great idea! I only arrived the evening before and due to jet lag slept as soon as I arrived, but obviously awoke to confusion as I didn't know where I was! Mike was the tour guide and he soon helped me get my bearings. He was very enthusiastic about... More

I took the downtown Toronto tour entitled " Power, Politics, and the PATH" that started at Union Station and ended at the Toronto City Hall. Our tour guide Jackie took us through the iconic Fairmont Royal York Hotel and Trump International Toronto Hotel, beautiful and interesting places. The elegant restaurant at the Trump on the 31st floor has a fantastic... More

Our guide (Jackie?) was entertaining. She took us around the financial district, down to the PATH and up into some buildings for views of the city that we wouldn't otherwise have been able to get into ourselves. It was just over 90 minutes, which I think was long enough for the content. Even though it was cold, I am glad... More

Took the tour for the second time, and Mike was our tour guide. He did a great job showing us downtown Toronto and telling fascinating details about the history of the city and its architecture. Also he showed us the Underground PATH, which is not very easy to find as a tourist. All in all it was a pleasant and... More

Great tour, tour leader was a short Canadian guy who grew up in Ajax I believe. Very great to see Toronto, it was an informative tour about Toronto's finance industry, but also got into the history and architecture of the buildings. The tours are free and you are asked to tip. I tipped 10 Canadian (about 7 American); this tour... More

We did the free walking tour in Downtown Toronto last Sunday at 11am. Our guide Mike was really knowledgeable. He told a lot about the architectural development of the city and seasoned the tour with lots of jokes and fun facts. The tour takes 90 minutes, starting at Union Station and ending at the City Hall. Most of the way leads... More

I was looking for something to do for a couple of hours before needing to head to the airport so I decided to check out this walking tour. Mike was the guide and he did a great job, very friendly and interactive with everyone on the tour. It was a great way to get a little more history about the... More

The "Morbid" walking tour with Tour guys was the highlight of my weekend. Our guide not only knew his stuff, he was open to questions about Toronto's history, other fun facts about the city, suggestions on what to do, and tips for getting around. he tried to include all the participants into the group discussions, and made historical facts relevant... These guys are great! Jason our tour guide did an excellent job providing us a two hour group walking tour. He provided lots of insight into Toronto, the architecture and history. We were directed to them from someone who had visited Vancouver and the concierge at the hotel in Vancouver recommended the tour guys. We looked them up in Toronto... More

As a frequent walking-tour-taker of cities globally, I highly recommend the Downtown Toronto & PATH tour by Tour Guys. My own acid test is that a tour takes you to city-parts/nooks/sights that you would not have stumbled on yourself. This tour definitely does this! Admittedly we knew very little history or trivia of Toronto but felt both entertained and informed... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
