Known as "The Beach" or "The Beaches," this eastern side of Toronto is a popular tourist spot as it offers a completely different flavor than downtown brings. There are plenty of historic buildings and independent specialty shops, but the main selling point is several kilometers of boardwalk surrounded by a sandy beach.

I play beach volleyball here during the summer all the time! It's a great atmosphere, and the beach goes on for ever it seems like! Great place to spend a Saturday afternoon

If you want to feel like you have gotten out of the city without having to go too far then this may be the answer to you. There are things to do but ideally this is for relaxing and maybe taking in a stroll.

If you want to feel removed but still close enough to the city, go to the Beaches for a stroll along the boardwalk or hang by the water.

the boardwalk which I love is vibrating all the time and too small. limited eatery right at the beach, love the trees, love the path for bikes, roller-bladers

All shore is dirty with no place to stop and have a coffee with nice view, very unplasant place to be. For jogging, walking your dog is ok and acceptable, but have romantic evening... I don't think so, too much people, a lot of garbage, noisy.

Toronto's Beach area is lovely to walk down. There's a wide boardwalk often full of people, strollers, joggers and dogs and a bike path right next to it. You pass 3 playgrounds in the east end so lots of places for the little ones to stop, a few (not enough!) benches, and Queen Street with its interesting shops and restaurants... More

in my opinion having lived here since 1987 nicest swimming beach is at Wards Island. Best walking beach is in the east end of Toronto in the Beaches area. Water is tested daily and water quality is available online from Toronto Public Health. Newest beach is Sugar Beach a lovely man made clean beach with umbrellas and Muskoka chairs. No... More
