This is one of my favorite places to visit in the summer time. It costs a mere $7 to get to the island and back. I bring my bike for greater flexibility. Centre Island makes a great place for a swim and a picnic on the beach. Hanlan's Point (nude beach) has good quality water; it's very swimmable and clean.... More

Now I don't go to Centreville where the rides are. I take picnics and go to the Ward Island area. You can throw frisbees, footballs, baseballs, read books, visit with friends and family in a nice outdoor environment. Food is available at kiosks closer to the Centre Island, there is also the Rectory Cafe.

The amusement park is good fun whether you are there with your family, and just with like minded kid-inside people. Funnel cakes are expensive, but tasty.

From the boat trip there to the one back, this place is amazing! I could not believe that waves could be so high on a Lake!! The Rectory Cafe was so pretty, very efficient and informative service and the peace was amazing although I appreciate that this would be so different in July/August!! Well worth a visit.

The ferry ride to the island is a great one, gives you an excellent view of the city landscape. The island itself is very pretty, very well kept and bike-friendly. It's a wonderful place to get out of the city and relax, walk around, take in the natural scenery, etc. Photographers will find plenty of opportunity to snap great shots... More

Centre Island is wonderful in the summer. Take the ferry, or even better, the private water taxis are great if there are lineups or an expected busy day. Lots to do, particularly for little kids. Centreville is hugely popular with our kids, nice rides and games, the beach and splash pad are nice, food options are decent but could be... More

what a beautiful place, right in the middle of the busy Toronto centre! green everywhere, boats and lots of peace. great break from the city and all its construction works, people, traffic. we loved the walks and the ferries are nice too. and not pricey. great family outing.

After a few days in the city of Toronto it was blissful to take the ferry across to the island and have a wander. Being of season it was very quiet and at time the only sounds I could hear were the insects! A great place to relax and unwind.

- My favourite picnic spot in Toronto, hands down! - Has a little bit of everything for everyone - beach, picnic area, amusement park, bike trails, walking trails, gardens, etc - The ferry ride from the harbour to the island in itself is delightful. The views of the Toronto downtown skyline is breathtaking. The ferry is about $7 a person.... More
