I have been underground in Goldcorp mine, when my husband worked there. So I had something to compare this experience with. We suited up and then headed down the ramp, we got to see gold, real gold. This is my second time on the gold mine tour. Took a friend for his first time in Timmins. Not impressed with the tour guide. He was very bad, hard to understand and annoying. The gold mine tour provided a fascinating look at mining now and in the past. The full tour took 3.5 hours from signing in the guest log, suiting up with protective clothing and flashlights to completion of the "surface tour" portion. Many people don't think that Timmins offers much for the vacationer outside of a beautiful natural environment, and associated outdoor activities. On a rainy day, or even on a beautiful sunny day, the gold mine tour will be a very worthwhile couple of hours.
