they have a variety of unique items that are hard to find. the clerk was very friendly and went into the back to find items that they did not have on the floor at the time. she was kind enough to find me exactly what i needed, even with a foot injury. i ended up purchasing very lovely items. i... The Art Gallery had some pretty interesting pieces, especially some re-cycled works. The Museum shows the history of Timmins well. AND there's a good performance space for readings. We liked the Gift Shop which would be a great place to shop for more unusual and local gifts.

This is a great place to stop . They always have interesting exhibits and fun items in the gift shop. Some of the staff is very nice however some are not knowledgeable or willing to help.

I recently attended the museum while showing some of my out of town relatives our City of Timmins. The museum was meant to be one of the highlights, however the minuscule mining exhibit, along with a "silent movie" running on a loop did not measure up to even the lowest expectations. The Art display was good, however there were no... More

This is a small town museum which has relocated to a new building. The displays change on an almost monthly basis. There are also various sessions (crafts, etc.) offered for a pretty reasonable price. Some are events for children and others target adults. The curator is particularly knowledgeable about the area, but all staff are quite polite and helpful. Given... More

I went there expecting to learn something about Timmins and its history, and probably about its raison d'etre, mining. Nothing at all! And nothing about its famous daughter Shania Twain. A nice clean well run place full of nothing. They had a temporary exhibition of Egyptian artifacts, but that is all. Very disappointing.

We are sorry you had such a disappointing experience at our museum. Unfortunately, you visited us during a time of transition. Our local history gallery exhibits change a couple times a year and we were in the process of installing the next local exhibit which is now open and does feature our mining history. Our other gallery is the National... More
