Sooo glad we made this stop. We were concerned this was going to be a boring stop but our son really wanted to go. But ended up really enjoying the tour, history and well kept facilities. I would not recommend eating in the canteen, yes the prices were good but the food not soo much.

Pros: We happened to get picked up by a Métis guide [interpreter] (his name was something to do with 'crow') upon our arrival to the fort, who then led us on a fantastic tour of the entire place! It was a lot of fun learning about the history of the fort and how it worked from people who really got... More

I wasn't sure about going -- thought it would be just something for kids who like dress-up and pretend. But no. My husband and I really enjoyed the few hours we spent there. The visitor centre is excellent. We watched an introductory film on the times (circa 1816) and the Northwest Company. Most of the young people who reenact historical... More

Fort William is a definite must see. Overall the park is clean, beautiful and well kept. The video in the visitor centre really sets the stage for the rest of your visit so take the time to watch it in its entirety. The visit does mean a great deal of walking so take the shuttle if you will tire easily.... More

We don't really get anything like enough history in our schooling - but that is no excuse for not stopping in at the Fort if history is a part of your interests. If you are travelling with children, this is a must stop location. I have not visited the Fort since it opened, and now there is an excellent visitor... More

Plan to spend at least three hours here. It was interesting to see the costumes and have people talk to you as if you were in the period. I had my 70 year old mom with me and she was done in before we really got to see everything. Note: Take the shuttle to the site if you have anyone... More

We learned so much about Canadian history and the fur trade and enjoyed every minute! Truly, we could have spent an entire day, if we had had the time. The guides are totally in period character the whole time and know so much that they were able to answer all our many questions. Isabel gave us a very personalized tour... More

We had a informative, fun visit. We had a quick tour with a guide, then explored on our own. They had a skirmish between the Hudson Bay Fur Traders and the Northwest Fur Company that was fun to watch. We wanted to take a canoe ride but ran out of time. I also had a two for one admission coupon... More

We learnt a huge amount here about something we didn't know anything about before going. The site is big and can easily take a few hours to visit properly. It was very interesting and many of the guides were really informative and thorough and could answer all our questions. One warning - it's a very interactive experience, in that the... More

We had a wonderful time on the short guided tour and then wandering around the fort on our own. The hosts are all in character and do a great job of presenting early 17th century North America. There is also a good restaurant onsite.
