Well worth the drive up the mountain. The views are amazing, and we saw a bear on the way up. Bonus.

We drove to the overview of Mt. McKay on our way from Thunder Bay to Duluth. The side trip was well worth the view, especially of south Thunder Bay, the river and bay, and view of Isle Royale in the background. Cost is $5 Canadian per carload, which in our case worked out to about $1 U.S. per person. We... More

As the title states, the view is fantastic. On a clear day you can see the entire city including all the waterfront. There is a small carload fee. There is also the Fort William First Nation s war memorial with a large cross on top visible from ground level. There is a walking deck along the edge that makes it... More

No trip to Thunder Bay would be complete without going up the mount. Stunning vistas of the lake and harbour

Hiked along and up Mt. McKay...although it was not open yet...May 1st. Parked at the gate and enjoyed a beautiful hike up the road. At the base is an area for Native Pow Wows and ceremonies. There is a tribute to Elders with great animal beliefs billboards. The vistas are amazing. Also at the look out is a tribute to... More

The view of my mckay was very pretty. Didn't make it to the top because the park was closed guess the typical tourist doesn't go in April. The bridge to get here was kinda creepy barely enough room for my f150 to make it through and it seemed as if it were made of scrap parts literally. But that's part... More

A great place to look at Thunder Bay and Lake Superior. It gives you a very different perspective. The nominal fee is worth it as the road is newly refinished and the Pow Wow center will be very nice once completed.

Although its a bit of a drive out of town the view is worth it. You have to hike a bit up the mountain but once you get to the top its really nice. The mountain was in great condition and the road was freshly paved earlier in the season. We brought pizza and enjoyed lunch at the top of... More
