It’s all aboard as you travel to the end of steel on 592-mile, round trip ‘Tour of the Line’ to the French Canadian community of Hearst, Ontario. Your journey begins at the Algoma Central Railway depot in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where you will board our regular passenger service for a day-long rail adventure that combines the rugged mixed forests of the Canadian Shield, experienced on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train, with the boreal forests of the Great Clay Belt region. In marked contrast to the mountainous Shield country, the Clay Belt region, home to the lordly moose, is a combination of level coniferous forests and great inland lakes teeming with northern pike and walleye.

This train ride was recommended to us and worth the expense. Takes you 115 miles north into Agawa Canyon, where you can explore on your own for 90 minutes (more than enough time). The ride is scenic and the train is comfortable. I would suggest swapping seats with the people next to you on the return ride so that you... More

Liked occasional beautiful scenery. Didn't like the mosquitos! The train ride was long enough to become uncomfortable. The Fall colors might be a better time for this.

We took three other guests on the Algoma train to see the fall colors. You can bring a cooler on board with your lunch and drinks. The train is comfortable seating. Our great nephew was with us as well has his grandparents. Before we knew it Sam had met everyone in our car and was on the first name basis... More

We were between rating this a 3 or a 4. My husband loves trains so we decided this was one we wanted to try. First let me tell you TAKE BUG SPRAY! I would even suggest wearing jeans and a jacket no matter how hot it is. Most people got back on the train 30 mins before we were supposed... More

Great ride and great views. Best time to view is September when the fall colours are in bloom. The price goes up and the demand is higher. You depart leaving the CN freight yard with Essar steel in the background. Then you cross the Beleveue valley and tressel. The first lake you see on the right will be Achigan Lake,... More

Me and my husband had a great day out, we ate on the train on the way and although it was a bit pricey we didn't mind because it was all part of the fun of the trip We took a packed lunch and ate when we stopped but you only get a couple of hours to look around befor... More

Great full-day trip, wonderful colours, fully handicap accessible...book with reservation. Mid day lunch break at the North end...plenty of time to look around the area. All in all, a fun day.

I've taken this train trip twice - once with my children and my parents, the last time by myself. While I enjoyed it in the company of others, I saw much more when I was alone. The train is comfortable, the staff considerate, and the scenery delightful. I ate breakfast in the dining car. While the food was standard diner... More

If you are a train buff or enjoy the Canadian wilderness, this train is for you. Audio and video history of the city and the rail lines helps keeping this 8 hour train ride interesting. Some of the cars are cleaner and nicer than others. Food cost is insane! Bring your own food!
