Your journey begins at the Algoma Central Railway depot in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where you will board our regular passenger service for a day-long rail adventure that combines the rugged mixed forests of the Canadian Shield, experienced on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train, with the boreal forests of the Great Clay Belt region. In marked contrast to the mountainous Shield country, the Clay Belt region, home to the lordly moose, is a combination of level coniferous forests and great inland lakes teeming with northern pike and walleye. « less

A lot of fun and a must visit while in the Soo. Best time to go is once the leaves start falling, because you get to see additional views the leaves hide. Don't forget your camera, because there will be some really cool views and stuff to take pictures of. The train depot is in a shopping mall, so there... More

We took the Agawa Canyon Train Tour to see the fall colours and we were absolutely impressed by the beauty of the leaves in the fall. The train was packed and it is a good thing we pre- bought our tickets early as the sign on the door stated sold out for today. I imagine that is the case most... More

The train trip to Agawa Canyon is very pretty. The waterfalls are beautiful in the canyon as is the walk along the river. The train ride is comfortable with big picture windows. However, it is very long, especially coming back into Saulte Ste. Marie.

We had heard about the snow train and after a spectacular fall color in New England we wanted to try the Canadian train. The train leaves from Sault Sainte Marie, Canada for 4 hours into the wilderness . We hit peak fall color. The train serves snacks and meals. It's nice to be able to walk around while the train... Only two food cars for many, many passengers, located to far from seating area. Limited and costly choices for food and drink. Cramped seating. Colors were gorgeous, made the trip worthwhile. Have experienced the Verde Valley train excursion in Arizona. Verde Valley wins hands down for comfort, food and ability to take in all the scenery. It was less expensive... More

We took the Agawa canyon train tour on Sept 26, 2014. We hit the color change perfectly, weather was also great, in low 70's with sunshine. Would highly recommend it. One exception might be for small children, the ride is 4 hours each way, with 1/5 hrs stop-off at the canyon end, could be a long trip for them.

Took the fall color tour and timed it perfect! Beautiful colors and a fun experience. Scenery is incredible, brought along a book in case I got bored and never touched it, I was always looking out the window. If you sit on the left side of the train on the way out you tend to get more of the good... More

The scenic train ride up to the Agawa Canyon is everything you've heard...and more. The AV presentation is very well done and provides a fascinating insight to the Rise and fall of the local industries.

My wife and I used the Algoma Central Railway to go to the Agawa Canyon which is about 115 miles from Sault St. Marie, Ontario. The time to reach the Agawa Canyon is 4 hours from departure. The service on the train is very mediocre compared to what we have experienced around the world for similar kind of tourist train.... More
