Your journey begins at the Algoma Central Railway depot in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where you will board our regular passenger service for a day-long rail adventure that combines the rugged mixed forests of the Canadian Shield, experienced on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train, with the boreal forests of the Great Clay Belt region. In marked contrast to the mountainous Shield country, the Clay Belt region, home to the lordly moose, is a combination of level coniferous forests and great inland lakes teeming with northern pike and walleye. « less

We had a fantastic day! The sun was shining on the lovely crimson and yellow leaves. The color was about 40% so there was a lot of green for contrast. We used up our 1 1/2 hours at the park hiking to all three falls and climbing to the lookout. DO NOT plan on doing this all if you are... More

If you want a long day of intermittent fantastic views in between long periods of trees on both sides, this is for you. As you approach the canyon there are magnificent waterfalls, and a pleasurable walking opportunity for 90 minutes at the canyon site. The food in the dining car is okay and the people who work there are very... More

Trip seems a bit long because its hard to see much along the route. The trees along the line have grown very big since my first visit more than 25 years ago. The park itself is lovely and the view from the top is breath-taking.

This day long excursion had the feel of a pilgrimage in that all the travelers shared a common purpose, viewing the unique scenery, which transformed strangers into a congenial company. Our car had very comfortable seats and extra wide windows. An informative video gave historical and geographical background of the area passed through at the appropriate moments.

The Agawa Canyon, with its height and scenery is a welcome sight in this flat country, so we really enjoyed seeing it. The area has a few hiking trails with good directional signs. One of the side hills of the canyon is outfitted by an imposing wooden staircase of 350+ steps, and the climb is really fun. Reaching the top... More

This is a great train ride to some of the most beautiful places in Canada. Perhaps not as posh as Orient Express but very comfortable and interesting nonetheless. Highly recommended.

The ride is expensive ($264 for four of us, 2 kids, 2 adults) and takes about 10 hours. The hikes at the turn-around point are great, but the ride is nothing special. The country around is beautiful, but you can't see much of it because the track were cut in a narrow swath between tree sidings. The trees are beautiful,... More

Beautiful trip. Good seats, big windows, videos explaining the Sault Saint Marie's history and points of interest. The staff were kind and willing to help and explain all the doubts we possibly had. It was good to know that we could take our lunch, but they also have a restaurant wagon, for an emergency! The trip is too long for... More

Train takes you for a 4 hour ride to the Agawa Canyon, The views are great, and the train slows so you can get fantastic pictures at the Montreal River bridge. Canyon walks were fun, I did the climb up the 321 stairs to the observation platform. A little bummed that the Bridal falls was not running, but with the... More
