Your journey begins at the Algoma Central Railway depot in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where you will board our regular passenger service for a day-long rail adventure that combines the rugged mixed forests of the Canadian Shield, experienced on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train, with the boreal forests of the Great Clay Belt region. In marked contrast to the mountainous Shield country, the Clay Belt region, home to the lordly moose, is a combination of level coniferous forests and great inland lakes teeming with northern pike and walleye. « less

No idea how this train gets such good reviews. I love trains, I've ridden them all around North America as well as in Europe. This is the worst by far. Except for the brief period in the canyon what did I see, I saw the trees. Very little scenery of note and a ten-hour trip - much too long. I... More

If you like to ride tourist trains in North America, the Algoma Central needs to be on your list. The 114-mile ride to Agawa Canyon (really a deep forested valley) is truly a scenic treasure. Your expereince is heighted by comfortable cars and ample video displays that talk about the area's heritage while also showing a locomotive-mounted camera. Although they... More

Train ride was nice but dont bother going in the summer. All you see the entire train ride are trees with small breaks. This train ride would be excellent during the fall or winter when the growth thins out and you can see the vistas. Staff was very nice. The park was a nice break from the train. If you... More

Nice 4 hour trip through beautiful land and 1.5 hours in canyon. The 4 hour trip back was long. Once was good enough.

I took the Tour of the Line from Sault Ste Marie to the northern terminal of Hearst. The scenery is sublime and, depending on the time of the year, there are views of Lake Superior, Agawa Canyon, wildlife, and a trestle bridge over a river. At one point, the conductor received a radio call from the engineer that a wolf... More

We truly enjoyed the lovely train ride and time spent at Agawa Canyon. I wouldn't have minded another half hour at the Canyon. The train was comfortable and pretty empty. The trees were just changing in early September.

We went on October 2nd. We picked the best day to go. The weather was excellent. The fall colors were just extradinary. We couldn't of timed it any better. We had did this trip to Agawa Canyon twice before, but not at this time of the year and like maybe 25-30 years ago. The train has been up dated and... More
