Bring your bikes and a picnic. The TransCanada Trail takes you right along the edge of the Ottawa River on the River Parkway. Lots of places to stop and enjoy the views. Our favourite stop was the Inukshuk's on the Ottawa River.

there are lots of paths along the waterway, be wary of cyclists as they can occasionally appear quickly around blind corners. There are also some hills to contend with but nothing out of synch with what up you see all around Ottawa. Certainly with a stroll for a different perspective on the city.

Great way to exercise while seeing the city. Peaceful and quiet, well marked. Take your camera to photo some of the city's sight from great angles without the clutter. Walking, running, and biker friendly.

The Ottawa River Parkway (now called the Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway) runs along the Ottawa River from Carling Avenue to Booth Street in downtown. Beautiful views of the river, with bike /walking paths, beaches and parking lookout areas. View of the Gatineau hills are pretty during the fall.

It's a very nice drive with a beach and a marina along the way. Cycling is the best because the paths follow both sides of the river so you do not have to redo the same ride coming back. You can also stop at the museum of civilization, a great place. These paths also join the gatineau park trails which... More

I am always impressed with how beautiful the drive is along this parkway. In the warmer months the beach is well used, free parking! If you like to Bike or just stroll its hard to find a more scenic route in the Ottawa region. Drive bike or walk, just experience it!

The parkway has bike paths all along it from Britannia Beach all the way to Parliament. This is a great activity for a sunny day, such as biking, rollerblading or even walking. There are at least 2 beaches along the path with live music, food/drinks, and bathrooms. You can also see lots of geese and ducks (including their babies in... More

On my way to Tucker's Marketplace again, in Ottawa's beautiful downtown market I used the Ottawa River Parkway instead of the highway 417 due to construction traffic. The Ottawa River Parkway is a gorgeous scenic roadway that will take you from the west end of the city to the War Museum and becomes Wellington Street which takes you to parliament... More

On a pleasant sunny day this is a great little walk. It can get quite popular with joggers and cyclists. Fantastic views of the river and historic parliament buildings. Geese line parts of the path. Trees provide shade from the sun and there are chairs and rocks to sit on.

Its nice to have an good spot for a stroll or a run. Sometimes it can be smelly if the river is at a high level of pollution. Be cautious bringing children as there is a lot of goose droppings.
