The Experimental Farm gives visitors the vision of a farm that we all want to have: It presents animals that are, for the most part, content and well-treated. In that respect, of course, it is a mirage, since most "farm" animals are subjected to "factory" conditions. (I do, however, agree with a previous reviewer that some animals are not given... More

I didn't notice anywhere to buy food. (Sorry if I missed it.) Don't expect to eat lunch there. If you're coming from downtown Ottawa, make sure to follow the canal. It's a beautiful drive. I don't think that I would have come if I didn't have kids with me. Regardless, both adults and kids will hopefully gain an appreciation of... More

Do not bring your children here, it was the most depressing sight for my family to see all the piglets up against a cage trying to be close to their mother that was on the other side of the cage. Each pig was clearly TOO BIG to fit in the little pens they were in and looked like they were... More

Sure, it is nice to have a "farm" right in the city and by itself, this is something worth preserving and promoting. Maybe I am getting tired of seeing this place but for the price paid, it is not like there is that much to see and do What I liked: Educational in nature, talks by some of the keepers,... More

Took 2 11yr olds there who love animals, although most kids we saw were younger. They had different talks or pet the animal things about every half hour so we just went from one to the next. The place is pretty small so if you just wandered around, I think you'd be done in like an hour but we spent... More

I live in Ottawa and bicycle a lot, so stopping here every few weeks lets me see new flowers that are in bloom. I fully understand why many wedding groups come here for their photos. The variety of flowers is amazing: from roses and lilacs to poenies and poppies, daisies, hostas,.... there is a flower type for every fancy. And... More

We visit frequently being one of our kids favorite places to go! Unlike many animal visiting places, the experimental farm animals look healthy, clean, well taken care of! The staff is always helping and pleasant. Nice park with play structures and good place to pack a picnic as well.

It is November, so not a lot going on at the experimental farm, but we went to the Agriculture museum & were v pleasantly surprised. If you have kids <8 the experience is tailored to them and worthwhile. Lots of animals, a v good bee exhibit and enough to keep us going for a couple of hours.

What a great way to spend a hot summer day--visiting The Farm. hard to believe that this exists in the middle of a large city.

I just like walking around to see the flowers. I don't see much of the people who maintain this though and it seems to be difficult to get access to garden alongside those who put the displays together. I've become more fond of the arboretum across the CEF but that's me.
