Visiting the principal rooms of the Governor-General's residence made history and ceremony come to life. . The reason for suggesting a June visit is because of the beautiful rose garden, featuring hundreds of rose bushes (mostly native varieties) planted to commemorate an event, a person of significance, or a place in Canada. It was a morning well spent learning about... More

Well worth the time to take a tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was open to Q & A. The grounds are stunning and may of the trees have a history of their own. If you are in Ottawa, pop in. You'll be glad you did. Where else could you go to see a room that looks like the... More

Arrived and walked towards house and immediately was invited to tour by staff at canopy close to entrance. Security at house is fast and crowds were small so tour started within 10 minutes of arrival. Building is unique and part of the tour demonstrates the many additions by use of a wood model. Also the tour gives a better understanding... More

Really enjoyed this Saturday at Rideau Hall. Everything looks well maintained and the staff are passionate about the history and tradition of Rideau Hall and the Governor General of Canada. Watching village cricket being played felt very much like home in England but we were really disappointed that the advertised Changing of the Guard, with guards in traditional Red coats... More

I was invited to Rideau when I received my Golden Jubilee Medal from Governor Clarkson. The mansion is so beautiful! We had light finger foods and the bathrooms had small towels to swipe your hands after you washed them. I was impressed with the entire building and the high windows inside. The rooms were massive but so beautifully decorated. I... More

I have visited Rideau hall on many occasions and it never fails to impress. The grounds, the history, the GUIDES! I've taken a few tours and the guides always prove themselves to be the BEST Ottawa has to offer. I applaud these young ambassadors of our country.

We love the grounds and the stunning Rideau Hall itself. Apart from the beauty, there is a lot of activity throughout the year: Sunday cricket matches, teddy bear picnics, movie screenings, themed presentations and much more. In the winter, the skating is a mesmerizing and nostalgic activity (at times better than on the Canal where the cold wind can knock... More

We took our American cousin to tour Rideau Hall. We've made it a point to take most out-of-town guests there because it is a wonderful place - beautiful grounds and full of great history. Our visit was going very well until we hit the guided tour. Our tour guide decided that we should have the "Women's Studies" version of Canadian... More

Tickets are free. Tours leave every 10 minutes and one shouldn't have to wait more than 15 minutes to catch a tour. We walked right in. The tours are either unilingual English or French which is the "only way to go". Our guide was Jacob and he rates a 10 out of 10 for knowledge, being interesting and engaging and... More
