After years of coming to Ottawa, we decided to play tourist and visit Rideau Hall. Since it was early in the year we needed reservations to tour during the week. One quick phone call and reservations were set up for later the same day. We were not disappointed in the tour. This is a beautiful working residence and one that... More

Classic building on park-sized manicured grounds. A forest of commemorative trees planted by Princes and Presidents. The interior is decorated in period decor, with paintings and artifacts depicting highlights of our history. The grounds and building are open to the public- on our way out, we joined the spectators of a local soccer tournament.

I did coop there when I was in college and the grounds are absolutely amazing, the guards at the entrance are funny and if you have the chance to be there when they have an open house then you can go in to the house and visit. I'm sure they have tours organized now.

Of all the guided tours I did in Ottawa, this was definitely my favourite! Perhaps due to not knowing what iI was about to see inside. I made a reservation a couple weeks in advance. Make sure you arrive on time since the tour starts on schedule whether you are there or not. You will see all the rooms except... More

Where our Queens representative resides. A fair way out of central Ottawa but well worth the visit. Across the street from the Prime Ministers official residence.

We took a taxi to the Hall for a 1pm tour. The taxi drive dropped us off in the wrong spot and the guard at the gate would not give proper directions on were to go. We missed tour and were told by 2 separate guards there was another tour at 2pm. We waited outside in the cold for an... More

It was last summer so the place was open for visitors, nice grounds and gardens. A young guide presented well the art pieces and official rooms as well explaining to foreign visitors what the G.G. was . An official residence on the samll side but well adapted to the official role of His Excellency.

It was interesting to see this stately, official residence on a lovely spring day. The tours guides were wonderful explaining the significance of the place, as well as the role of the Governor General. I was really impressed with the grounds being fully open to the public as well since many were out picnicking and enjoying the day. The tour... More

This is a beautiful residence. Being a host to official functions not everything is viewable. Slightly more modern than I would've expected.
