This is great and our tour guide Karina was awesome. When we left we walked around the grounds looking at the trees , etc and the brochure said the grounds close at 5 pm. Well at 4:30 we were locked in and had to walk a longgggg way to the main gate. They really need to post what gates close... More

I attended Rideau Hall about 12 months ago and it was a wonderful day. I walked the grounds and was even lucky enough to see the Governor General arriving at his residence with full RCMP escort. The grounds are simply wonderful. A must see place for all of you who would like a little history on Canada.

We had a wonderful walk through the grounds. A lot of the trees have signs telling you who planted it and when. A walk through history.

Because we walked from our hotel (Albert at Bay) to this site, stopping along the way to visit other attractions (The National War Memorial, Rideau Canal, Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Major’s Hill Park, ByWard Market, Royal Mint, Notre-Dame Basilica), we were late leaving from the Royal Mint to get to the Rideau Hall. As we were power walking on Sussex drive,... More

It was a beautiful fall day when we went for a walk up to Rideau Hall. Along the winding drive there are many trees that have been planted by visiting dignitaries many heads of state. There are plaques in front of many trees stating when they were planted and by whom. Very cool. We saw the space where there is... More

I visited Rideau Hall on a glorious, warm fall day in October 2015. The 500m walk through the grounds to the Governor General's residence was aflame with autumn foliage. I enjoyed seeing which trees had been planted over the years by which dignitaries – Mandela, Truman, George VI, Queen Elizabeth, etc., etc. I took the free tour through the public... More

Not a lot to see but the tour guide was great. Lucked out seeing the resident Governor General depart in a limo.

This is a very impressive site, and an important one. We enjoyed out visit, perhaps more than I expected, and the walk back to Byward along Sussex as well. Unfortunately our visit didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped. I had phoned some time in advance for a tour reservation. When we arrived there was no record of our reservation.... More
