Our guide, Hilary, gave us a wonderful tour that shared the history of the area, the family, the buildings architectural importance as well as some of the fun of working in a 200+ year old building and a social commentary on how life was lived 200 years ago. I expected only another "old house" tour...but got a little bit more.

On 19th of July 2014, we completed our heritage tour by visiting the McFarland House. It was overcast, so some area's of the house were almost impossible to see. Our guide was quite knowledgeable, and it might have been a better experience if she would have carried a flashlight, or better still, a battery operated historic looking lamp. Of the... More

We enjoyed seeing a home that has a few original pieces and period ones added. We enjoyed the reason behind the turquoise painted floors, how closets were taxed and how sugar towers were displayed in windows. We started in the tea room and paid for the tour there. The tour wasn't too long. Only problem was parking. We had a... More

We did not take the tour, but enjoyed the tea room. The food was great and there was a big selection of teas. It was less expensive then so,e of the fancy hotels at Niagara on the Lake. The park and gardens were also very nice.

Love the tour, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Did not get to eat at the tea room, next time I will make reservation, because it smelled and looked amazing!

My boyfriend and i recently won a packet of vouchers for activities in the Buffalo Niagara Region, so we decided to drive up from our home in Buffalo to use the Niagara Parks Passes we won. Our third stop of the day was to the McFarland House. We had tea/lunch in the Tea Room. It was wonderful. I highly recommend... More

We did not actually tour the house but went to afternoon tea in the conservatory there. This was a blissful afternoon for just the ladies with a gorgeous view of the park grounds out our window. The tea was lovely and well presented with a good selection of sandwiches, deserts, and scones. We recommend everyone picking their own tea flavor... More

I am a visitor from Australia and we (my wife & l) wanted to explore 'lots of Niagara history' so we purchased the Niagara Heritage Trail Pass. The pass includes admission to four sites (Old Fort Erie, Laura Secord Homestead, McFarland House and Mackenzie Printery). What is amazing is how different and individual all 4 sites are. Our guide brought... More

This is a nice stop off along the Niagara Parkway, you can picnic there, bring goods you purchased at the road side stands and eat them in the adjoining park or purchse deserts in their tea room.Reservation encouraged. The tea room can be pricey but a lovely experience. The house tour is really nice and informative and the tour guides... More
