London, Ontario's professional Orchestra since 1957. Orchestra London performs over 50 concerts every year, including everything from Beethoven to the Beatles, to music for young children. Music Director, Alain Trudel, is in his third season with the orchestra and is conducting some fabulous programs this year. Full disclosure- I am a volunteer for this organization- have lugged rummage up and down stairs for our biannual fund-raising sales, bought boutique items, attended concerts for years - and am addressing with the musicians the greatest crisis in their history. For a long time, Orchestra London has been a major attraction in this city, and would definitely have topped most people's recommendations. However, what I want to warn people about now is that the orchestra is in severe financial difficulties. It has cancelled performances with little or no warning, and with - so far - no refunds. Recently I attended a production of the "Messiah" at St. Paul's Cathedral with the orchestra and London Pro Musica. It was the best performance of this concert that I have ever heard. Possibly it was because they were all under the direction of a fabulous guest conductor because I also attended the Christmas Pops concert and was not as impressed.... More

Was involved with the original Lollipop concerts where the children would sit on the floor, the orchestra (mini) would play at their level - always a sell out. Have attended various other performances and found it very rewarding; really liked the "Jeans and Classics" especially when introducing outsiders to the orchestra - have had visitors ask me to set up... We have been before and bring the kids. We choose the Red Hot Weekends because we want both the classic sound with the Orchestra element. Our family loves and is involved in music so the Orchestra is a great experience. We just saw the Kings of Corduroy: the ‘70s with Jim Witter. What a fantastic show. So much fun and... More

They really play a fine music and London needs them very much. Especially I like their classical and not the pop performances. hey alos play for kids and it is a really good experience for the whole family.

London is lucky to have Orchestra London. The Berlin Philharmonic it ain't, not even the Toronto Symphony, but for a city the size of London we are indeed bless to have this fine orchestra. PLEASE support it by contributions and by making each and every concert a sell-out.

I subscribed for several years, but find the drive too far so have switched to Waterloo. Orchestra London is to be congratulated for offering a variety of music, form 20th Century challenge to Pop to Bach. Centennial Hall has poor acoustics and a crowd that gets too participatory for my taste, but the various church settings are great.

The orchestra was fun, the music good and the Music Director made the whole thing most enjoyable. The concert we attended seemed to have a few insturments short due to the Christmas season with several musicians elsewhere - but just great

I bought a student bottomless pass for the orchestra earlier this year. For $65 dollars I was able to go to every show and get the best seating they had available. The first show I went to with my girlfriend and we got front row balcony seats 25 feet back. It was amazing. I highly recommend this for students who... More
