I'm a huge Anne of Green Gables fan and I was ecstatic to find out that the wonderful movies were mostly filmed in Southern Ontario :) Many scenes from the movie were filmed at Westfield Heritage (including the train station scenes, church scenes, orphanage, etc.). Beautiful place to go in the fall - lots of leaves changing colour. Horse carriage... More

The interpreters at Westfield make the experience. They put so much of themselves into what they do - just ask a few questions and it is clear how many of them are very well versed in the history and practices of the day. We would visit more often except for the downside, that their hours are so limited. Sundays and... More

With such limited hours, it was definitely a challenge to cover the whole village in just one visit. We were there on a day that wasn't too busy, so did spend extra time chatting with the many enthusiastic volunteers, all dressed in period costumes, who were more than happy to share stories about the historical buildings. The property is very... More

It's a great assembly of houses, commercial and institutional buildings from around the area. Furnished and usually with people explaining what life was like for the occupants of the time along with the history of the time. Free entrance with HCA card.

Fantastic entrance with parking and restaurant. Historical buildings from the settlers era. Cauldrons with maple syrup. Sweet water forest and apple cider.

This village is a hidden gem. Open on Sundays from 12:30-4, I would recommend arriving as early as possible as you will spend a lot of time here. Each building has a history lesson waiting for you, and you will be greeted with a friendly person dressed to fit the time and they are so full of knowledge. Another interesting... More

I visited the village for a little over an hour; it closed at 4:00; wish I have more time to cover all the buildings. The volunteer weavers, tailors, news press operator were all very engaging. I enjoyed info from the train station master, who gave me a souvenir train ticket. The gift shop is small, with a mix of antique... More
