We had a nice relaxing loop tour on the Ottawa river(1.5-2 hrs). We caught the boat near the Museum of Civilization ( a very interesting museum with the history of Ottawa). The girl giving the tour was very good with the names of all the ambassadors and the countries of each of their embassies as we passed. Also little tidbits... More

The river is impressive and very well maintained sidewalks. It is great for jogging or just set to relax. Loved it

I was privileged to have walked through part of the Gattineau Provincial park on my first visit to this part of Quebec. I also was privileged to have been a passenger riding in a car driven by a relative at the about the same time. This was my first chance to admire the wilderness beauty of this part of Quebec.... Taking the Aqua Taxi to and from Ottawa and Gatineau was not only an efficient way to get to the Canadian Museum of History, but it also afforded wonderful views of the Chateau Laurier and Parliament (as well as other buildings). It was a way to experience the Ottawa River, and a very inexpensive way to travel. The operator was... More

The Ottawa river is one of the longest rivers in Canada. It is also one of the largest volumes of water getting pretty deep in some parts. It offers a wide variety of fishing options all year round. There are also a good number of species that can be found within its waters. Enjoy the Ottawa River.

One of the best walks in Ottawa (before the snow flies) is a circle walk along the two sides of the river. The walk takes about an hour (non-stop, depending on your pace), crosses two bridges and you get to see many of the highlights of the city. You can pick it up anywhere along the route. I start on... I visited Ontario last November. It was a sunny day and simply a perfect day for a walk. I took a walk from Parc Major's Hill to Captain Champlain, and then I saw this panoramic view of Ottawa River. It was simply a great scenery with endless blue sky and deep blue water. It might be best to visit there... More

We took a 2 hour boat ride around the Ottawa river, and river parkway. The tour guide was very informative and spoke fluent French and English. We saw beautiful views from the river of the houses along the river, the historical sites and were given quite a bit of information about the city, which is very underrated. It was a... More

I crossed the river near Oka, Quebec, outside Montreal. Usually there is a ferry which runs regularly. In winter however, it is possible to just drive across the river provided of course it has been cold enough for a while that the ice on the river will carry you. When I was there it did and it was a great... More
