We took the ferry to Dartford primarily for the experience and to see the Halifax skyline. This it did very well and cheaply. In fact if you return within 90 minutes your return journey is free. Dartmouth itself, however, was a bit of a disappointment. We struggled to find a coffee shop and ended up at Tim Horton's which is... More

I've read in a book that you could take a dinner cruise for less than 20$... buying a snack then hopping on the Ferry to Darmouth :) We decided to take a round trip just to get a look at Halifax from the water. It really is a cheap way to go on the water. It cost 2,50/passenger round trip... More

Cheap and reasonable transport option for crossing the water between Dartmouth and Halifax. Running every 15 minutes it's a good choice for getting over to explore, shop or to go out for a night on the town

Most affordable boat ride only 3.50$ and you can use your transfer to come back to Halifax after taking a stroll in Dartmouth.

The ferry runs from the Halifax Harbor to Dartmouth for about 4 CAD. Good view of the harbor. I am sure Dartmouth is a lot of fun for the locals, but for tourists there is not much to do except to wait for the return. You might want to have a drink at the Wooden Monkey restaurant while you wait... More

Four a family of four it was under $9 to go across on the ferry and if you return within three hours you don't have to pay for the way back! A nice, cheap way to travel to avoid paying downtown parking.

Every time we visit Halifax, we take a quick round trip on the ferry to Dartmouth. We feel like locals queuing up. The sights are great from the open air top of the ferry. We got great photos and our phones gave us the tour info we wanted.

We were travelling from Cape Breton to Charlottetown and at Pictou you have to board a ferry over to PEI, the cost is paid when you leave the Island whether its a return ferry ride or you take the bridge. We paid something like $68 when we left. The ferry leaves at different times so you have to google the... More

This is a great way to travel....no hassles; cost $2.50 and hop on. Lots to see while crossing. Bike racks available for those who need them. Friendly staff will answer your questions. FREE on Tuesday for seniors ( as are the city buses). Enjoy Darthmouth, too!
