Short inexpensive thing to experience while in Halifax. Kids loved it and were really excited to be on the "big boat"

Decided to explore beyond Halifax so we decided to take the ferry to Dartmouth. The ferry is great and wonderful but nothing to be had in Dartmouth from a restaurant perspective. Ferry staff is friendly and believe it or not they actually clean the ferry after every trip

We took the ferry from Halifax to Dartmoor - $3.50 return for two seniors. We could travel as many times as we wanted from 2 pm to 8 pm. Seating on two levels. Journey takes about ten minutes and provides great views of Halifax and Dartmoor from the water.

I live in Halifax and do not use the ferry for a daily commute, but do occasionally take it just for fun. There are a couple of nice restaurants over there. It would also be a very cheap excursion with children

Cheap, fast, no-hassle. Nice view from the ferry, and we didn't get seasick or drown so that was good.

We took the ferry as an inexpensive way to see the Harbour ($2.75 each) and to give our legs some rest from a day of walking the steep hills of Downtown Halifax. The trip provided a good break in middle of afternoon and did see a few more sights than we could see on the boardwalk. OK to do if... More

We took the ferry from the wharf to Dartmouth, walked across the street and took the bus back to our hotel for $2.50 total! The transit system in Halifax is the way to go! Got to cross the harbor, transported to hotel, and with transfers we could have gone on some more. Best of all Tuesday's senior citizens ride free...both... More

The ferry costs $1.75 - $2.50 for a round trip. It's a cheep harbour tour and when you get to Dartmouth there is a boardwalk you can walk along too
