Really interesting to see the astonishing Citadel in Halifax, NS! Had no idea it was so large & so old! Didn't have time to view any videos or spend much time on displays. But did enjoy the private tour.

This is that big hill south of downtown and the harbor. Fantastic evening view from here. Unfortunately they close early, as we were only able to go around the outside. Loved the grass roof.
The Citadel is superbly restored. Throughout the summer the tours are performed by students. If you want a 'private' guide, just queue for the Franch tour. The guide speaks perfect English! ;-)

The Citadel overlooks the city of Halifax and the harbour, and has been restored to 18th century standards. Excellent guides give you a taste of colonial life.

Having visited other historic sites in Canada and the US, I can truly say the the Citadel is one of the top two; Louisbourg being the other one. If you are a military...

Loved going to the citadel! It was great to get a history lesson in such a fun way! The staff and guides were great. I watched them interact with children, making it fun for them (hard to do in the age of technology). The guides made the difference between "looking" and "having fun"
