The Saturday Farmers Market is the primary reason we attend Alderney Gate. There are produce vendors, several types of food options, and crafts. Other than the market, the facility if primarily used for transit to and from Halifax via the ferry. There is a Tim Hortons, NSLC, and a couple of expensive shops.

This ferry terminal was a nice surprise. The cost is $1.75 for seniors and $2.50 for adults. Return transfers are free for less than 2 hour trips. The well organized ferry ran every half hour until 1PM, then every 15 minutes until late in the evening. On site is an organic restaurant. The Wooden Monkey. We didn't have the opportunity... More

The terminal is clean, (the prices to cross were also reasonable). The wait time was a very acceptable 10-15 minutes. There is a very nice park with play equipment for the kids so on the way back from... More

We visited here on two occasions and both on a Saturday when the farmer's market was on. Very busy with lots of interesting stalls. Well worth a mooch around. Nice to have a wander around on the front too. We caught the ferry across to Halifax and this was fantastic. The views across the harbour are stunning and at $2.50... More

The Saturday market is great, they have a Sunday market as well however I can't comment as I haven't been there on a Sunday. There is lots of variety and vendors helpful and outgoing. It is located in Dartmouth on the waterfront. The Mennonites are there in the summer and they have fabulous deserts and preserves. The Wooden Monkey restaurant... More
