Worth a visit

The Shearwater Aviation museum is worth a visit, great for adults and kids especially if you are into old aircrafts and aviation history. Great photos and great restoration work.

If there is an aircraft museum nearby we have to visit it! Three of the four of us worked in the military aircraft industry (especially helicopters) so it is never just a quick visit and we spent several hours wandering around the exhibitions. The paintings of the aircraft on the second floor were so vivid and we saw several with... More

I found the museum very interesting as an ex Navy man posted on ships such as HMCS Assiniboine (DDH 234) which is covered extensively in the museum. It was the primary ship involved in the development and trials of the helicopter haul down system known as the "Bear Trap". The museum was very well laid out with a lot of... More

Our guide Jerry was great. We missed the beginning of his tour so we are not sure exactly his career in the Canadian Air Force but it seemed like it was a long one. He walked us through stories of the different planes on exhibit along with the people that flew them. He also talked about the process to bring... More

The entire family will enjoy a visit to see some of our beautiful vintage airplanes and the history of aviation in Canada. Well worth a few hours to see all the exhibits and static displays. Also a great little gift shop. You can't miss.

Lots of Canadian history here. Saw & learned many things about the RCAF & info about Halifax 911 involvement, my teenagers loved it. We dropped in for a quick visit & stayed a few hours.

The exhibits are well presented. They are of particular interest for older folks such as myself because I remember when planes flew from what is now called Shearwater.I used to crawl under the fence to the edge of the runway to watch Lancasters take off right over my head.
